This would be correct. Not a great idea to be in a storm with multiple lightning strikes every second. And when it comes in that quickly there aren't many places to go in the middle of a float.

Side story, we were staying on the comal when in high school, the schlitterbahn resort was right across the river from us. A thunder storm came in and a group got out and waited it out under a tree. One of the guys got struck by lightning. We saw the whole ordeal.

There is a flash flood watch in effect for most of south and central Texas through May 31 and there is a 70% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain in New Braunfels for Saturday. I am sure the McCombs family thought that tragedy would never strike them also.

Drove over the Brazos at 1462 today. Pictures suck, but i was driving. The river is officially out of its banks. 3 days ago you could drive under the bridge; now the road is closed and the water is only a few yards down the access road off of 1462.

Another good shot tomorrow and the Brazos will be about 2 miles wide.

I really hope Google updates their satellite imagery to show the flooding.

forecast for Victoria for the weekend..... An additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall...on average...is expected across south texas saturday afternoon through early sunday morning...with isolated higher amounts.

I've been lucky so far, we may get an inch, maybe two, but then we have had a day or so for it to soak in, before the next rains come. My kid has been able to keep the grass cut, between the raindrops, so the grass looks great. Now if this giant sinkhole my house is falling into would just heal up....

Sunday I may float the Navasota.

Saw this posted on Facebook. I may have take a drive out to Sommerville tomorrow to take a look.

I had some friends from Sommerville that told me years ago about collecting catfish from the spillway after it went back down from going over. Said they picked up 3 35 gallon trash cans full from the puddles that were left after the water receded.

Storm line about to hit Ft Worth.

Either there were a bunch of people, or they were way over their limit.

We're getting pounded in Fort Worth. Tons of lightning and very high winds.

There's a low water dam 1/4 mile south of the stadium. There is usually a constant level on the Brazos through most of Waco. It's well over now.
