Sure did. Even Steve Jobs and his programmers couldn't stand the thought of those 2 words going together.

Just noticed that Somerville is only 2 feet below the emergency spillway and still rising. That will put another slug of water into the Brazos.

Looks like it rose nearly 3 feet yesterday. So it could be spilling by late tonight.
whats below that spillway?

That was created over a week ago, before this past weekends rain events. Is it updated?

I pulled it up this morning, so assuming that is the latest update. They have updated the crest height from yesterday though - yesterday was 49.8', today is showing a predicted crest of 50.5' at the 1462 gauge.

20 miles of Yegua Creek it looks like. Nothing more.

Right now Sommerville is letting out 1 CFS so anything more than that will add significant water the the Brazos.

Stillhouse and Belton could add to the woes with much more rain. The Little River is already more than full.

Lol no
I think it's a legitimate question when images like this are what's shown on the news ...

Both or those pictures are from Tropical Storm Allison

Correct, all of the lakes in the lower brazos water shed are above 100% I believe. So controlled releases will keep it from getting too crazy.

But south of the confluence with the Navasota, I expect that we will potentially see historic river heights.

I know all the LID and MUD operators are squeezing right now and checking on pump stations 24/7.

I can't remember a similar prolonged "state-wide" rain event like this in my lifetime. I could actually get used to wet Springs like this (minus the tragedies of course).

NWS emergency alert this morning came over the radio and said 25 homes are affected downstream and iirc it's a voluntary evacuation

Don't know the cost benefit equation but at a cost of $10k a home if saved might be worth it

The mosquitoes are already terrible. Have been for a couple of months.
I haven't really been hit with them that bad until the last few weeks. Anyone know if the Cutter yard spray stuff works and will it hurt the dog?

Works for us, but it's only temporary. So if I know we'll be in the backyard I'll spray it beforehand. This is the can, I believe they also have a bottle you can hook up to the water hose but I've never used it.

I believe it's safe for dogs but might want to just read the label before buying it.

Thanks, I've got the hose hook up bottle. I'll check it out when I get home. Someday it won't be raining and I might get to hang out in my own personal swamp. Maybe.

I have had a bad case of the biting gnats or something the last month or so. I got in a cloud of them a couple weeks ago while training the pup and probably looked a lot like your son for a week! I'm on the north side of 1488 by The Woodlands so if the San Jac is flooded like I think it is in the back of the neighborhood, then I'll be getting those blood suckers soon...

Yeah I was trapped on both sides by 2978 on the west and 45 being flooded to East this morning. It took me 25 minutes to get from Carriage Hills to 45! If it so much as starts sprinkling today up north today I'm heading home from the office.

Mosquitos haven't been too bad in my neck of the woods, relatively speaking. I typically don't get hit as hard as others do anyway, and there has only been one day thus far that I had to stop what I was doing and go hose myself down with OFF liberally. Even with a constant motion on the tractor, they were tearing my ass up. I could see the cloud of them come out of the grass in front of the blade on the tractor as I was mowing.

I am sure that once the rain stops, they will be out in force though.

North or South of 1488?

Lake Creek has been out of control for about a month now I think.

Wouldn't call it out of control. It's not in my parents pasture yet, so that's a good thing.

True, but I think I recall my folks saying Lake Creek had Honea Egypt closed just past S. Trace.

Currently at 3.5" at the office right now in South Austin. Southwest Parkway and Mopac. Barton Creek/Springs maybe flooded the entire summer!
