Found out today the family were friends of my exwife in Corpus. Very sad!

No doubt most of us would do anything to save our kids or a friend or even a stranger

Having been capsized in cold river water at flood stage I can only say its a lot harder to do than one can imagine if you haven't been thru it - not sure what the water temperatures in these floods were but it has a huge effect

It looks easier on Tv is what I remember saying to myself and all I did was help a grown adult even tougher with a small child in terms of their ability to respond and ability to swim in strong current I would think

We're going to start swimming lessons early with ours

Sends chills just thinking about it scary as all get out

Wouldn't wish that fear on many people but would reserve for a fewin the Middle East

So according to the National Weather Service one of the highest recorded Brazos River levels in Richmond was in 1994 and it reached 50.3 feet.

Currently, it is projected to reach 49 feet at noon on Sunday. Things will get really interesting if the river gets higher than 50 feet.

Get everything you care about out of the way. I suspect that the update is going to move up the crest. The real time data shows it will crest sooner or higher. After 40 ft we will slowly start losing access on the river. Projected close to 100,000 cf/s.

When the Brazos floods in Richmond it will begin pushing back up the watershed. Simonton and Allen's Creek are good examples.

I, too, had a close call on the Llano once trying to pull a friend out of a capsized kayak that had been pinned against a low water bridge. It sucked us both under. Thank God the chute wasn't tangled with debris.

Anyway just thinking about trying to save my kids in this gives me chills. Whatever end they may or may not have met, I pray to God they did not suffer.

The BFE ranges from 72-76 feet. Not sure how that relates to river height though

When the Llano flooded in 97 we were at the cabin and knew the river was on a rise but were wondering why the snakes were coming up so close to the cabin. Made sense when the water got up 5' in the cabin that night.

Yeah, the snake picture is BS. It's been around for awhile and has been claimed by no fewer than a dozen lakes.
