Isn't the spillway at canyon at 248 though? I think flood stage is a bit below the spillway...

Yeah it was crazy but unless it stops for a few days that spillways gonna get used again very soon. Canyon is climbing faster this time than it did in 2002 and that year proved the flood gates couldn't keep up

Yes flood pool is about 10 feet below spillway

Iirc they eventually closed the gates. When the gorge dumped all that debris in the main channel it stated backing up to the dam. That part of the dam wasn't designed to have tailwater backed up against it.

They had the sirens blaring in belton or thereabouts. Storm is tapering off but I wonder about Nolan creek.

The canyon dam was designed very poorly when it was built

I started a post about 30 minutes ago and was interrupted by emergency sirens here in Temple. Tornado possibly sighted toward Salado and system moving this way. Its been raining a while but skies opened up. I put a French drain in on west side of house last year. If I hadn't my house would have water in it right now. Even though it is working great I had about a pint of water come through garage side door. Hooked up a pump to help pump downhill around house. Houses further downhill may well be getting flooded.

Wait, I re-red teh COE page. Spillway crest is 943. For some reason they list a 948 MSL for spillway crest + 5 ft of spillway flow. Don't know what's significant about that number.

The 2002 event crested at 950.32' MSL.

LCRA getting flood gate operations underway at multiple dams.

The KWTX mobile unit showed what may have been a funnel cloud very close to my house in Woodway. Other than that, just a bunch of rain. My garage is now flooded, but fortunately the water flows around the house before it floods. I do have a nice moat around my place now.

Wife is pissed that the pool which still looked great 30 minutes ago is muddy chocolate noW. When I said something about small potatoes she brought up the fact that the only thing I moved to a safer place was all my guns. ( she did help me though

I remember vividly having to drain a pool during one flood event and cut up garden hoses to siphon water into the the draining pool.

6.3" in Pflugerville so far. Backyard is flooded. We're starting to watch our doorways.

I'm in old town in pville and we had water creep in under the plates. Went outside and trenched around as much as possible.

Neighbor is at the very bottom of the hill and is fighting full bore with his sons to keep some of it out.
