Here are some photos from Sunday, 7/19. I was in Batesville, so I ran over to where the Nueces crosses FM 1025 on the way to Crystal City.
I couldn't get all the way to the river channel, because there was water over the road I wasn't going to cross.
The red line on the right is roughly where the water/debris line was east of the river. The pin is about where I stopped. The red line is about 2.75 miles from the center of the Nueces River channel.
Here is the water line near the east edge of the inundation. Those are the clump of trees near the red line.
About a half mile west of that, there was debris stacked up on a pivot.
This is where I stopped. The little white splashes are where air was being pushed up through the pavement. I have a video, and it sounds like a live well bubbling. There were pockets where the top layer of aggregate had bubbled up like a blister. Springy to step on. This is another reason not to drive through water, even if it's shallow. It will be interesting to see what this looks like when the oil trucks start running again.
Also, whoever built that fence on the left did a hell of a job. That water might have been 12-14' deep based on the water line on the trees behind the fence.
Just an unreal amount of water. I feel bad for the folks in Crystal City that were impacted (and those in Tilden impacted by the Frio, of course). And I know there were some ranches that were completely under water.
