Is it illegal to put out bait for hogs next to a large amount of tannerite? Then pop the tannerite once several hogs are directly next to it? I don't know if it would kill them. Just an interesting topic for discussion.

It might (of might not) be a call to the tanneirte company to see if this is explicitly illegal.

Making a pipe or any other kind of bomb for your personal use and enjoyment is illegal?

Blaze,
Why is instantaneous death somehow less "humane" than shooting them with a gun or capturing them with dogs before dispatching them?
Can't for the life of me figure out why you think it is inhumane to kill these living bulldozers that tear up your native grasslands, your crops, and food plots.
I'm assuming you don't have as much of a problem (if any) with them tearing up your place as many on this board do.
I read somewhere that you have to kill over 65% of all of the hogs you see just to break even on their reproductive cycle. I don't care how good of a shot you are, you can't have that level of success even if you have a machine gun!
Until the genetic answer is found to control them, landowners will continue to be behind the eight ball and continue to lose to these bastages!!!

Because I was taught to make a kill cleanly and as humanely as possible. I was taught by the old school guys that had respect for the animals they killed. Something it doesn't sound like you were ever taught.

So....let's get extreme shall we? Have you ever used a bug exterminator company?

Are you ok with dogs taking down a coon or a hog as opposed to a bullet?

If TPWD found a viable way to poison hogs that could effectively reduce their numbers in the state, thus reducing the damage to crops/property, would you be ok with it? Or would you be against it because the poison might be a slower death than a bullet?
quote:
Do you feel the same way about roaches/spiders as you do about hogs?
quote:
That's what many of the folks here are trying to say about hogs. They don't care if they die slowly, quickly, violently or quietly. They're just trying to exterminate hogs on or near their property. I honestly don't care either way, but I can see both sides.
And this may seem weird, but if someone is just doing it to see a pig blow up, it makes me a bit uneasy. If someone is doing it to try and protect their farm/ranch by killing or scaring away as many pigs as possible, I don't really have an issue with it. I think intent goes a long way.

you're another one who doesn't get it. Thats ok, I was just raised differently. I'm far from an animal rights type person/PETA terrorist. I just was taught differently... make clean, quick, humane kills and don't just kill animals for the fun of it(in this situation, I can and support culling them as they are destructive).
