Where is the nearest place to sight a .270 rifle in near the Houston Heights area? I can't seem to find anything within 45 minutes...

You will have to drive a good bit from there no matter which direction you go. Hot wells in Cypress, Carters Country in Spring. You would do well to get out during working hours if at all possible to avoid heavy crowds and possibly being made to wait for a bench (likely quite a few folks will be checking their guns this week as well).

as log linked - American Shooting Center; ~I10/Hwy 6. shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes without traffic.
