I'm looking into getting some alligator/crocodile boots. I like some lucchese caiman belly boots, but they are $800. Are they worth it, or does anyone know of any good custom guys. Any idea on how much customs would run?

Look at Anderson Bean. Lucchese boots are over priced anyways. Pretty much everybody I know wears Anderson Bean boots these days. Very good quality boot. I've got these, but with purple tops.

My Christmas present to myself last year

Lucchese Classics are worth every penny. I have a pair in Ostrich as well. They are more comfortable than any boot I've ever worn including my Anderson Beans. AB's are great, but, the LC's fit like they were custom made for me. Everybody's foot is different so try them on and pick the ones that fit you best. I've heard good things about Blackjack as well, but, have never found my size at a store to try them on.

You might try looking around next time you make it out on the town. I always get a ton of compliments on both my caimen and ostrich boots (both square toes). I'd say that the pointy toe boots scream old man shoes, but even the older gentlemen that I know have moved onto the square toe for both comfort and style. You will catch on one of these days.

Agreed on the toes. If you are buying Exotics and take care of them, they will last long after the square toe fad has gone out of style. Classic J toes will always look good.

I had square toed AB's in college, and really liked them but now they look and feel a little out of place, especially for dressier occasions. I bought a pair of caiman custom made boots with the round toe and love them.

That said, you should get the boots you like the best. The only thing gayer than wearing the wrong boot is critiquing another man's attire.

Thanks for the advice. I'm looking for some that I can wear with business casual so I'm thinking of their classics style

Ariat makes a square toe caiman belly in about 5 colors and usually they are under 500 bucks.

As far as square vs round toe, I hope all you round toe fans have a nice matching bolo tie. Ha

Caimon isn't as durable and won't last as long as gator. Friendly FYI.

My neighbor bought some nice boots in Cozumel when he went on a cruise. He paid $200 with a belt I think.

Customs in that general type of skin can run from $800 to $5000, depending on where you go. Some guy from the SA rodeo was the cheap one. Little was the $5k.

Luchesse is a lot nicer than Anderson Bean, and will also hold up better in my experience.

Ive got a pair of lucchese camen and they are really nice if u take care of them and condition them a lot they will hardly wear at all. if Ur also thinking u want something a little more inexpensive you might look at Anderson bean, rios of Mercedes, and blackjack Boots. All are good boots with rios being the more expensive of the 3 because they are all handmade. If u are ever close to Mercedes they usually half a buy one get one 50% off sale on rios and beans at their factory store.
