I grew up near the area and I have been to the trestle bridge they are referring to many times. There is an area (probably the preserved land they are talking about) that can only be accessed via 4x4 vehicles. We would load up a few trucks with all our friends and have bonfire parties out there or go during the summers to drink, swim and jump off the trestle. It is a known party place for young people because it is not easily accessed by cops.
If I had to guess, I would say it was people partying out there that brought guns. We used to partake in some innocent target practice with beer cans. I'm sure the people who go there now do the same thing. That would explain the 100+ rounds heard. If the shots were in fact fired towards the fishermen, then I have no explanation for that. I will say that the houses along the river in that area are not home to the highest quality people so anything is possible.
The article talks about 4 young men and one of them being a red head with a goatee. Although the article isn't enough description to be sure, it sounds like a group of guys I used to hang out with there. If it were them, I would highly doubt they were shooting at someone and probably just shooting at a target of some kind. I haven't talked to any of them in a couple years and I have no idea if they still go out there.
