I bought a meta quest 3 a year or two ago. I learned how to use it and then kinda forgot about it. Recently, I started playing around with it mostly for media consumption (tv, youtube videos).

I'm interested in starting to use this for work since I work from home primarily and spend many hours every day on zoom calls, spreadsheets and putting together designs for customers. I'm not a fan of lack of privacy with meta however. For example, on my meta quest I recently looked at some videos of boots, plug in solar and something else. Now everywhere I'm seeing more advertisements on boots, solar etc.

All this being said, I'm thinking about buying an apple vision pro (new or used). Just wondering if anybody has them? I've done the demo at the apple store and they seem pretty damn awesome. Just not sure if it's worth the $$$ to get away from meta quest.

I have one with the M5 chip that some weeks I use everyday and sometimes just 2 or 3 times a week. I mainly use it for watching movies or YouTube, but I also use it with the MacBook Neo when I need a better view of the screen (almost a perfect combo of mobile computing to work anywhere in the house). I have not tried to connect it to a Windows based computer yet (it is not directly supported like the MetaQuest3 where you just scan a QR code in MixedReality app)

I like using it better than my MetaQuest3 since I already have many Apple products and it easily shares app data/login info with the other devices, and I am not constantly changing AA batteries for a hand controller. There are many times I wear it walking around the house (cooking or doing laundry) so I can continue watching the movie/video, the video screen stays in the room and superimposes over any walls in-between when you look back at it.

One complaint, when sitting down watching movies I sometimes have to hide my hands so it doesn't think I am trying to click on something just because my thumb and pointer finger are touching.

The good news is they are still developing for the AVP, and VisionOS 27 has some nice improvements (including more support for third party controllers). There will also be more foveated streaming apps coming
