A few of us are currently on NA East Cedar Forest. We are Marauders.

Company I am in was first to claim a territory on our server today. We then made a few rounds cleaning corruption - if you have 2 groups of 5 they drop pretty good loot. I'm up to lvl 25 now

This game is pretty good. Love the world and craft. Combat is definitely a change of pace and even though its only 3 skills per weapon, it does feel varied. Like the customization and no classes of the characters.

What is everyone doing for gear? I've been running faction quests for the faction currency and doing some crafting as well. Do you guys just salvage most of the junk gear you find? Level 16 so far. Rapier and musket.

Yes I salvage. Mostly using quest drops or plate I crafted so far. Lvl 17 or 18 now.

Used to back in 2015 but stopped after the changes to sov in null.

The only game that I've ever played to understand how to give players their own "territory" and make it worth fighting for.

From what it sounded like, New World tries to give some amount of ownership to players.

They really need to tune this weapon swap mechanic. Its soo janky right now. Cant count the number of times this ****ty system will ignore my swap command and just keep attacking with a light or heavy attack command i sent after i told it to swap. Melee fighting on any down slope is also janky as ****. Self healing also seems to take multiple Ctrl inputs for it to fire. Gotten me killed multiple times already.

Been running mostly blue gear since mid twenties...from excavation runs and corruption site clearing. Have yet to see next rarity gear.

They definitely need to allow the weapon swap command to queue.

Oh, that sov. Always been a wormholer so I just watched from the sidelines. But now I've been in Signal Cartel almost five years, and we don't recognize any ownership (but then we aren't trying to take anything from anyone either).

I've heard good impressions for New World though. If I ever get some time I'll be checking it out.

I'm very murky on how the long term economy will run outside of consumables. With most players crafting and no alts what is going to drive people to buy gear?

I'm considering just doing cooking and selling gathered stuff and buying crafted supplies.

I had the same problem with the mouse scroll. Additionally scrolling the mouse also affects zoom so it was hard to track in fights. I re-maped the binds for zoom to the up/down arrows and the scroll button for swapping weapons. Works much better then the default for me as I'm no longer "scrolling past" my intended weapon.

I know video games aren't my thing, but gardening, fishing, and smoking cigars/pipes are all pretty fun, reasonably priced, real life pastimes…

That guy in the video is an idiot. Blaming a game for what is clearly a driver/hardware problem. And trying to equate those problems with blowing up an engine with a dyno?!? He freely admits he's not an engineer but then presumes to blame the game for what is clearly not the game's problem.

This game really intrigues me. I might have to check it out. It seems kinda like a modern-day Runescape.

3080, max settings - it gets to huffin and puffin but it's running the game well.

Playing on EU Central Server - Underabjakhds if anyone wants to team up. Got a good group of EU players I been playing with for 3 years in another MMO

Big question here. I think Amazon really messed up by scrapping the "lose gear on death" mechanic. A lot of the crafting system seems based on that economy driving need for replacement gear.

Currently, it looks like it's trending ESO's direction.

The way it's rumored to be bricking newer GPUs, I may stay away (assuming I ever get my hands on an RTX GPU) until the inventory is sane again.

So wait, reports surface that GPUs across multiple generations and multiple manufacturers are bricking while playing this game and you say the game has nothing to with it?

Do you work for Amazon? That's some heavy duty goaltending there lol.
The game may stress the cards and indeed cause failure, but the blame (or rather the fix) is not on the game. Those cards should be able to run 100% of the time without failure when using APIs they support. To release hardware and/or APIs that allow the hardware to get ruined? That's a failure of the hardware and/or API provider. Otherwise they would leave themselves open to hackers able to brick their hardware. You going to ask hackers to fix their hack to not ruin your card? Good luck with that. The only one that can protect the hardware is the hardware itself.

From what I hear, it's mostly people who have overclocked or have potentially not up to par voltage regulation. Regardless, the card manufacturers have to be able to protect their own hardware limitations.

None of this is to say that New World can't/shouldn't make optimizations to stress the graphics card less - they should. But ultimately they are not the ones liable for the card failures - the card manufacturers are.

I agree.

I haven't had time for a long play session due to life but my 3070 seems to be peachy keen playing it. I do have a very quiet desktop for my gaming PC but I have not noticed any increase in fan activity relative to play Project Cars 2 VR or Skyrim VR.

I think this game is pushing the cards and showing faults in construction and/or software.

Anyhow, saying software cannot cause this is laughable. Saying hardware manufacturers should be able to mitigate any inefficiency is laughable. Saying it is all on one side or the other is obtuse.
...and I didn't say any of those things.

So any idea if we'll ever get mounts? I'm about to quit over all the damn running.

And yes I've played tons of MMOs.

I doubt you'll see them anytime soon. I think part of it is that they intentionally want to slow down the grinding process as much as possible until they can add more end game content (and more content in general).

That, and they really want you in the world interacting with it - gathering, pvping, etc.

I just use the chance to explore and get experience with my gathering type skills. If/when I get tired of that I'll give it a break for awhile. But very rarely do I work on a single quest at a time that requires me running around a lot, and instead work an "area" with a group of quests at once. Makes it more efficient that way for me.

The running bothered me at first, but now I enjoy the opportunity to explore, which I've done more in this MMO than any others I've played. Plus it gives you an excuse to gather materials, which you need a ton of to do any crafting.

Don't forget you can recall to the inn and later your house free. I agree with the other poster that traveling by foot is a good time to gather. Take the opportunity to chop a few trees and boulders to gradually get those attributes up. If your not doing that each time, you are going to spend an entire gaming session logging to catch up.

My only issue with the "explore" part is every zone looks the absolute same, so far. Grass. Trees. Some mountains. Some decrepid former farm with monsters. The "exploring" isn't much fun when it all looks the same, imo.

I do plan out my route of quests to limit my trips from the towns and, after finishing the quests on my route, I use the time between recalls to gather resources... Still, getting pretty bored. I am only level 28 and I've only gone through the beginning area, the under 25 areas and two more 25+ area but it is still kinda dragging cause it is just the same two quests (loot X number of treasures or kill X number of baddies) and the same scenery everywhere.

Hoping the higher level areas change but I'm afraid to even Google it because I don't think I'm going to like what I'll find, ha.

Agreed. The scenery is getting very repetitive.

They made some very efficient use of graphics, certainly. There are duplicated starting zones that are very similar, re-using the same buildings, etc.

The "effective" part they did was to apply different lighting to essentially the same graphics - both in different zones and different areas of the same zones. Props to them for doing what they could with the budget they had.

I have seen some different higher level zones briefly (before dying to level 60 mobs lol). I have faith though that they'll add new content with new zone graphics in the future.
