I do not have it yet. I got the speeds from reddit.

I signed up for the beta 6/17/20 and pre-ordered 2/8/21.

I am just outside of College Station where the internet is terrible.

If you are in town, 5G may be better for you. If you are a bit DIY, you can build out a modem/router with open source software and get some blazing speeds. I currently have a 5G setup, but don't get any decent 5G signal yet. I can still get a little over 100Mbps most times, but have a slow fixed wifi as backup.

tfunk02, do you just have a great signal at your house or is there something you're doing to get those speeds? On a really good day I'm lucky to get 20 down with antennas pointed at the tower.

Here is my signal:

Here are speed tests (the 25ish is the fixed wifi):

I'm just over 3 miles away from the tower with a fairly clair view. The tech in the tower and your signal are the most important parts. I got a sim from each of the three and spent a day aiming and testing the services. AT&T ended up being the fastest with Verizon #2. TMobile was pretty terrible with pings in the 500ms range sometimes.

What antenna are you using? I'm using 4 yagis in an X polarization since I have a pretty clear view.

Curious, what 5G would be better in town, at a similar price point?

I'm using Att fiber but would love to drop them for a better option.

Unless you can get milimeter wave at your home, it's not going to be better for someone with fiber. A 5G milimeter wave modem is very expensive right now. My mid band 5G (no Milimeter wave) was $400 and that was just for the m.2 modem card. You still need a router.

Verizon does offer in home 5G internet too. https://www.verizon.com/5g/home/

Not much, down to the 33.7 parallel. That is just South of Witchata Falls. The next satellites go up in July.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Starlink/comments/ml2i9q/starlink_availability_current_and_new_beta_test/

I also saw they plan to use Starship to put them up one it is ready. Starship can put up about 240 satellites per launch versus 60 on Falcon.

I still don't totally follow how they are selecting who gets the service when. Im in a coverage area now (Colorado), in a rural area with no cell and DSL/Viasat only for internet and still waiting for my email to buy the stuff.

No one understands how. I think the best guess is they are still treating it as an actual beta product. They pick an area they want testing/data from, and open it up. Once they have enough in that area, the don't let anyone else in.

If your area is full, I think the guess is that you won't get an invite until beta is over.

If your area isn't open yet, there is still a chance you can get in on beta when they decide they want to get data/testing from your area.

All in all, nobody outside of starlink knows anything at all...

Beta invites have dramatically slowed over the last 2 months. "Full" constellation won't be up until August. I still think most people in Texas who "pre-ordered" won't have service until 2022

Anybody heard anything lately? Seems like it was progressing pretty quickly and new satellites went up in August but I haven't seen much new info lately.

I read an article a few days ago that they can't get all the hardware needed for for the home receivers.

They're producing 5000 user terminals a week with 500k people who have preordered. The math just doesn't work out to get most people service this year.

Your best bet is to follow the Starlink reddit to see where people are getting service

I'll save you some time. Terminals are ONLY going to Australia and Europe and Washington state. No terminals ANYWHERE ELSE!

It is a bit frustrating they've opened full service up to quite a few European countries, but I ever expected service this year with it being a Musk company.

I've checked my rural service address, and a new "pre-order" is now showing early-mid 2022 expected service date. I wouldn't doubt it if my "mid-late 2021" gets pushed out to mid 22

Yeah, my location (north east Texas) and my order both show "coverage" Target of mid to late 2021. That's the thing though. I think they will "cover" my area by then but not open "service" for then.

I know it is just a deposit and they can do what they want, and so I can, just wish they were a bit more open with messaging and updates.

Like you said, frustrating to see brand new orders get processed for areas that have had service for a while, while we get nothing down here.

Today Starlink pushed most pre-orders in Texas out to mid-late 2022. Might be worth checking accounts.

I think mid-2022 is very optimistic.

I am so pissed!

I effing hate that Elon has an email saying first come first served but it's horse crap.

They are filling international orders before wait list orders.

It's his company but don't fricking lie to the customers in your first correspondence

It's first come first served based on the cell being open. Doesn't have anything to do with total orders.

Most cells in Texas aren't open.

Signed up within hours of beta and preorder and before any emails from StarLink (twitter told me), but I'm pushed to mid 2022.

Guess it was a good call for me to go unlimited hotspot… getting decent speeds but not often over 100mbps near Snook.

Any recommendations for a hotspot service or company? My order got pushed back to April.

I would get a modem and router from one of these links below. They come with a version of OpenWRT software.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/chestercr/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

https://www.ebay.com/sch/arcadian.technologies/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

https://www.ebay.com/sch/mike_ratledge/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

With the included software, you can log into the modem and set TTL and IMEI. I used the IMEI of my old phone I keep in a drawer. Once the modem is all set up you can get a regular old unlimited data plan from any of the carriers and they will see the modem as a phone. It IS against the terms of service, but it is not illegal to do.

I've had mine going for about 6 months now at my home and another at our lake house. I have also helped 3 other neighbors get set up. The link to the FB group I posted above is also a good source.

Also, I use this antenna with a 502 mid band and low band 5G modem (no mmWave).

Here's another good resource, but prices can be a bit higher here.

I'm using CircledIn with an ATT Elite plan. $40 a month and I can cancel at pretty much any time plus no credit pull.

Where are you all seeing the month/year of your theoretical order date? When I log into my account is says "targeting my area in 2022." No month is showing.

Probably the same area. I'm guessing the further south you are the less definite the service availability is going to be.

Can starlink be used on the road? Like from your car? Also, what's the best way to stream from your car?

I agree, but remember this is Elon. Has he ever hit a release date on anything, ever? Has he ever announced a roll out plan that was actually followed?

I'm south of Navasota and I'm March 2022. Interesting how close geographically we are, but still a difference in estimate. I'm guessing neither will be particularly accurate when all said and done.

Any updates or has anyone received their dish in texas? I'm seeing very impressive speeds and latency with recent tests people are showing.
