I got my cannon damage in rumble as well. Some guy took pity in me and started dancing in front of the cannon. The next game, I put on the banana outfit and paid it forward by doing the conga in front of the cannon the whole game. Only one guy took advantage. Amazingly, that was the most fun I've had in a fortnite game in a long time.

It is fun to do dumb stuff in the game. The most fun I ever had was hiding in a corn field to try to get the top 25 in solo challenge while I did some other stuff around the house. I was laughing hysterically at the guys running around me and building nearby. I had no weapons or shield. I finally got exploded by an errant rocket. It wasn't even aimed at me.

There is a pretty lengthy argument/discussion on Reddit about these trends. Lots of speculation that the casual players are migrating to Team Rumble because there is less pressure than BR. Therefore the competition is getting a lot tougher on BR.

I consider myself super casual, and I hardly ever play any battle royale, but I play the hell out of Team Rumble when it is available.

I'd tend to agree with this sentiment. The kills are much easier in rumble and it seems all I run into in solos are sweats.

I decided to try the Gauntlet Solo Challenge tonight and was pleasantly surprised. I found I could get kills easily, 3-4 per game, when may overall score was less than 10. I maxed out at 16 points over 10 games. Once I got over 10, the kills were harder to come by and my score would begin to drop due to the bus fare (-2 points per game). Hence, I would eventually be playing against similar skill players. The mode took a lot of the frustration out of the game as I wasn't spending 20 minutes looting only to get rolled by some semi-pro soccer skin with 12 kills (and realizing I never really had much of a chance). Moving forward, I think it is Epics best option at creating skill based match making.

Definitely agree that skill based matchmaking is needed. I played regular solos last night since I expected all the good players to play the gauntlet solos. That was a mistake. Did make it to the final 2 in one match only to die to fall damage because my gliders didn't redeploy

A separate note: PS4 and Xbox players are now all combined, but I think you have to opt in to get that.

From what I could tell by the release update, it is mandatory to opt in to cross platform. Otherwise you will be limited to Creative or Playground.

They are claiming it will help with potential optimization and overall better gameplay experience to combine Xbox & PS4 players. I think they did the same with Switch & Mobile users.

I was thinking the opposite. There's a reason I play better when we do squads with cross platform and PS4 players are thrown in the mix

Downside is my son plays on Switch, and I think most of his friends play XBox and PS4. Probably a good move by Epic, but I guess we can't have everything.

He should still be able to play with his friends. You can be on any platform in the same party. This is just for matchmaking so if your son is on Switch and playing solos, he will only be playing against other Switch or Mobile players.

Managed to get my second duos win of the season with my son. This time I at least carried my own weight. I had 4 kills he had 6. Was pretty satisfying. For whatever reason duos seemed easier tonight. We finished in the top 5 in 5 straight games.

I tried to eliminate someone with the flintlock pistol last night. I hit someone, but it takes three seconds to reload. I got shot in that time, but it sure was funny watching them fly backward.

Wonder if they will release a blunderbuss.

That's awesome. My son does the same for me. We have a good time until he forgets I'm his dad. He will get frustrated with me. Then he starts yelling at me, calls me a noob and such!?! I can usually set things straight with the legendary hand or epic belt.

As a PSA, I think his gun and build skills really got better with all the fighting and building he does with his friends in creative mode. Salty and I did that one night and even the small amount of time we spent doing it was more productive then looting for 15min and losing the first gunfight.

Definitely agree. It helps my gun skills moreso than building since my shooting is sub par. Third person shooter is way tougher for me than first person

Recent patch may have killed fortnite for me. Epic claims the shield and health per kill was making people too aggressive. The worst part of the game was getting third partied and this change only encourages that as you may be left weak after a fight.

Even worse than that change is the change in mat farming. Now I'm going to be spending more time farming and less fighting!?! Is this a mat farming simulator or a BR?

I saw that in the patch notes too. They make a game where the objective is to find weapons and defenses and be the last person standing, and then they say the play has become too aggressive. *Rolls eyes*

I could understand if the rolled it back to something like 25 HP, but doing away with it all together seems pretty lame.

I'm not going to complain about the change. I got my first solo win of the season last night because of it. I was able to keep my opponent weak after he killed the guy that came in third. It was nice to be able to hang in there at the end and not face someone that instantly got a 50 hp bonus for stealing my kill.

If you have a pump the extra health really doesn't matter. This no extra health sucks for beginning and mid game. Not to mention that shield/health seems pretty hard to come by

Congrats on the win. I suspect though that the change will cost you more games then it will win you. Last night I was in a duo match, my teammate got knocked and I was able to get kills on the other team. I only had 8hp left leaving me an easy kill for anyone 3rd partying. Under the other meta, I would have 108 health and have a better chance to defend myself. As such, unless you have the skill (and I do not) of getting kills without taking damage, your better off playing as passive as possible and hope you are the guy doing the 3rd partying in every fight through the end.

Additionally, now I have to use my 5th spot for bandies. I generally took Assault, pump, smg, shield, and "bonus" with the bonus being sniper, rocket, or redeploy. I have a lot less flexibility in fighting now.

I suspect I need to get scuf controller and a lot better and pumping someone and throwing up a wall/floor. Or maybe I'll just work on Division 2 that I downloaded last night instead.
