I'm not sure what you mean. On the PS4 it is mapped very well. The map is programmed to the big center touch pad. The top trigger buttons (L1 and R1) cycle through your weapons when you are not in build mode, L2 scopes in, and R2 fires the weapon. When you are in build mode, those are each mapped to a different build item and the square button is to place a trap, launch pad, etc. The most difficult thing for me is to quickly switch from a trap to a launch pad if needed.

Right - but the original controls have different mappings for gun swap, crouch & map/selection screens. Builder Pro was added a couple of months ago.

Thus, all of us who have the original control muscle memory have a tough time switching over. They could have simply added the building controls without changing the other toggles as well.

I see. I started playing after the combat pro config came out and used that. So when they added builder pro, it still used the combat pro config when not in builder mode.

My 2 sons and I have been playing in the Xbox for awhile but have added the switch now. It could be me, but when I host a game on the switch and then add our Xbox to it, it seems to be a ton of default skins and not very good competition. We're getting a couple duo wins everyday.

Something that helped me out was switching from playing on a 40-50" tv (can't remember the exact size) to a 24", 60hz monitor with a 1 ms refresh rate. I just started Sunday evening and have won 4 games. Before that I had 1 win (in months) and had a tough time finishing games off at the end.

I play on PS4 but I imagine this would work for Xbox as well.

Holy ****, I just checked and my new LG OLED has over 20ms input lag and they consider that good.

No wonder why my games have been feeling l**** since switching to that tv.

My brother swears by this. He only plays on a computer monitor sitting at a computer desk.

However, I'll take comfort playing on a big screen in the man cave over a higher win percentage. Any other set up feels too much like work. Same reason I won't switch to s mouse and keyboard set up (like some on this board who will remain nameless, '04 shoot it!!).

I really don't play for the wins. I do have plenty of duos and squad wins, and no solo wins. It'd be nice to get one, but I don't really play solo all that often. I'd rather have more fun playing duos and squads on my big screen with a beautiful picture where I can lounge back on my couch, than have to sit really close to a computer monitor and act like a try hard

Also, I only ever played on a TV and I've never had issues with lag. I'm sure it helps that I have fiber optic internet and DL speeds of 1Gbps. /humblebrag

Yeah I'm not trying to convince anyone to do one thing or the other but thought it was an interesting point that I had never considered until about a week ago. My setup is in my home office where I was playing anyways so I sit in the same chair and can kick my feet up on the small side table that has the monitor and get some games in.

Yeah if you don't feel any delay from controller input, then don't try a monitor. It'll ruin your experience on a TV. There's actually pretty significant delay between the controller input and what happens on the TV compared to like a 1 Ms response time monitor.

Builder Pro has ruined this game. Jam buttons to build as soon as you take one shot.

If you don't like how fortnite works, just don't play it. The other person building shouldn't be an issue as long as you're better at it.

Teams of 20 is fun. Mowed down the competition as our group banded together and finished with 15 alive. We eliminated everyone else before time expired.

Is that not what you do in the regular controller configuration? I do. One shot comes at me, I am building ramps and all kinds of stuff to try to take cover. That's a strategy, not a controller configuration advantage.

I don't have a problem with people building. If I did, obviously this would not be the game for me. It just appears that since the advent of Builder Pro, jamming buttons is the meta.

Do agree that the strategy is a huge part of the fun. It seems like they've made some changes to allow more aggressive players to break down forts (stink bombs, more availability of gatlin guns, etc).

Are there mouse and keyboard players on Xbox en masse? Maybe onesie twosie, but can't be a big problem?

You are literally describing something that PC can do even easier than Console players, and I see more often with PC. Should we remove Builder Pro and equally handicap PC players so they can't easily spam? Take away key binding capabilities? Require PC to cycle through building pieces before building? Your argument is BS in blaming BuilderPro. Good try though. Just get good or move on to minecraft.

If you are a proficient builder, you can easily get an advantage on someone who simply spams their building buttons. Additionally, there are ways to counter spam building (stink grenades, regular grenades, SMGs tear it down quickly, etc.). BuilderPro is great. I enjoy watching a great build battle and hope to get that proficient.

Also, if I am I in the open I get shot and don't know where it came from, I'm going to build a box around me as quickly as possible.

Are all different platforms playing the same games together?

I'm on the xbox and after I got killed in 20x5 was watching our last teammate. The guy was insane with his accuracy quick scoping and building speed. I tried looking him up in the recent players list but his username didn't show up.... xan0th3rk1ll3rx or something like that. He was just amazing but ended up dying from a fall.

Another embarrassing story from my noob self. My team got wiped out way before the final storm ring leaving something like 23 vs me. I was on the edge of the island and almost a 1/4 of the safe area was over the ocean. So I make a couple of ramps down to a little patch of grass and box myself up to try to wait out most of the guys. I wait until there are only 3 guys left... the final countdown starts... I hear footsteps on the ramp... I make a door and the guy has his back to me running back up the ramp... I switch to shotgun... notice I have 4 viewers watching... Jump out to make the kill... miss the ramp and fall into the ocean.

No, if you aren't playing with someone cross platform then you're on the same platform. I've played a dozen or so games with friends on pc while I'm on Xbox and you immediately know when it's a pc builder. They'll throw up a 1x1 in a split second. Builder pro narrowed the build gap but you can't compete with the good pc builders on console. Have to use another strategy to battle them.

The Meta in this game is building and shotgun battles. I don't even bother taking distant shots at someone who can easily build and block it. If I want to get the jump on someone before they start building, I'll use a sniper. Otherwise, you have to deal with the fact that you can't play this game like pubg.

And to counter the "no skill" argument, in my opinion, ARs are the least skillful weapon in this entire game. Bloom makes it to where, if you have two good players fighting each other, it's most likely coming down to luck as far as who's shots actually hit. There's a certain amount of RNG associated with shotguns as well, but there's still a set hit cone that will 100% register damage to the enemy if you have it on them. Add in who is a better builder to the shotgun fight situation, and you have a pretty clear indication of who's better.

I make as many of my fights turn into rushing the other player as possible, and it works. Until they change the ARs to not have bloom, the build and shotgun meta is actually the most skillful aspect of this game. If it's not the type of thing you enjoy, and there's a lot of people who don't, luckily BF5 And black ops 4 both have a BR coming in October.

So if anyone dislikes a change that a developer makes, they should just find another game?

I've had more wins in Season 4 than any other season. Simply stating that the Builder Pro change in April has made a lot of battles very annoying. Clearly people here love it.

Let's move on.
