I just got a slingbox for Christmas but wanted didnt want to pay $30 for the iPad app and another $30 for the iphone app so I decided to find a work around. If you are like me and have Dish Network and a slingbox but dont want to fork out the extra money to actually use it on your mobile devices, here is how you can do it:
1. Setup your slingbox to work with your dish network receiver
2. Setup your slingbox account on your pc or laptop
3. Make note of your slingbox account credentials as you will need them later
4. Go to www.dishnetwork.com and setup an account. (*Note: You will need to have your receiver numbers)
5. Log into your dishnetwork account and navigate to My Account-->My Equipment
6. Take note of the receiver that you setup your slingbox on
7. Click Dish Online button
8. Log into Dish Online (*Note: This should be the same credentials you used when setting up your account in Step 4)
9. Click on My Account
10. Scroll down to the section labeled "My Dish Receivers" and locate the receiver that your slingbox is setup on (*Note: This should be the one you noted in Step 6)
11. Click connect a slingbox next to that respective receiver
12. Enter your slingbox credentials and click submit button(*Note: These are the credentials you noted in Step 3)
13. Choose the correct slingbox and click submit button
14. Download the mobile app (for iPad/iPhone it is called Dish Remote Access)
15. Log into the mobile app using the creditials for your dishnetwork account (*Note: This should be the same credentials you used when setting up your account in Step 4)
16. Make sure you have the correct receiver selected in the receiver drop down list in the upper right hand corner of your screen (*Note: This should be the one you noted in Step 6)
17. Click Live TV
18. Enjoy
