A little help? Why does htc mail not remove emails from yahoo when I delete them?

WHen I turn it right side up it doesn't correct itself... any other thoughts?
reb,

what i've noticed is that the "mail" client will not delete emails on the server even when that setting is chosen. however, if the "gmail" app is used, it will. that doesn't help you with yahoo though.

i transitioned from hotmail to gmail when i got the hero, though, so its not really an issue for me i willingly surrendered my soul to google and it feels good

Is there possibly any way I can reset the sensor or whatever controls the portrait/landscape orientation settings?
NPH-

I will try that

if its like the Hero, under sound&display there is an option for "G-sensor calibration" to do that

There is a calibrate feature under settings that can help you out.

The gMail app fully supports IMAP. The regular mail app does not. That's the reason for the difference in behavior.

Can the android run the apple apps?
NPH-

no... unless the developers that made an app for the iphone have made the same app for the android OS

Looks like I figured out a work-around for Yahoo! mail not updating....

By default, yahoo! mail in the USA is IMAP only, so basically read-only status. Any changes you make in your phone are not updated to your mailbox on the Yahoo server. This is because by default it's IMAP.

If you go and make a change to your Yahoo! account settings, and set your "preferred content" provider as Yahoo! Asia, you are given free POP access to yahoo mail.

By deleting your old account in your HTC mail and setting up a new account manually (if you setup using HTC defaults on Yahoo mail it always configures you for IMAP) you can set the POP info in the phone and have it update with the server.

We'll see if I get any weird updates from yahoo Asia. But for now, I'm testing to see how it goes.

IMAP isn't read-only. Emails can still be deleted from the server when using IMAP. I don't use Yahoo on the Eris myself though, so maybe the client itself doesn't support that feature, but if not that's a client issue, not IMAP or Yahoo in general.

Thanks for clearing that up 99Cent, I made the assumption about IMAP when I couldn't manipulate the mail on the server basis standard Yahoo settings.

When you enable POP with Yahoo (a paid feature in the US, or a feature enabled by accepting email advertisements) you can manipulate mail and allow mail forwarding. The Asia work-around simply negates paying for the feature and doesn't seem to send ads.

Screw the work around I posted above, just goto the Android market and download K-9 Mail

It's free and it completely takes care of the Yahoo! sync issues.

My wife and I just got our Droid Eris' yesterday. So far I'm liking them, takes a little more getting used to then the iPhone did.

I like how everything is so well integrated. An example, linked every phone contact, email contact and facebook friend all together. I can pull up one friend and see all their info, bday, updates, etc.

Once we get them set up, it looks like it will be great to use. It also seems like if you want to get deep with it, there are a lot of customization options, etc.

Eris and Hero and MyTouch are virtually all the same phone... all for different carriers

Not many differences as far as I'm concerned (beyond physical appearance)

No 3.5" headphone jack, no Sense UI...those are the big differences in MYT3G and the others. But yes, the guts (RAM, ROM and processor, etc.) are all the same.

i dont know how i feel about the dolphin update w/ the new UI. thinkin about downgrading

Another good app to look into is 'moov'. Its basically a search engine for the whole phone...contacts, apps, music, etc. If it had a widget it'd be perfect.

yeah i've read a ton of poor comments about the latest dolphin update as well. i usually read them before updating and i'm glad i do in this case. i'll stick with 1.5 or whatever this version is i have for now.

I just tried a tracing keyboard, not too impressed. The keys are hidden under my finger and tough to find.

Pure Calendar Widget is my favorite widget by far. Here is a screen shot (not mine, but you get the idea.)

There are several downloadable themes for the calendar (the totally clear one with white text is shown above) and multiple widget sizes. 2x2, 3x2, 4x4, 3x3, 2x4, etc etc. Extremely customizable. The price is very reasonable, too.

In the options, be sure to check the option that resolves the "Hero/Eris reboot bug". This prevents an issue with the Hero/Eris where the calendar data doesn't reload when you change scenes.

Seriously, this is a must-have if you're used to the agenda view on PalmOS.

ALSO, there is an option to display task data from Astrid. This requires a customized version of Astrid, which is downloadable from the options screen. Be aware that if you do this, you'll have to uninstall Astrid first, so backup or export your Astrid tasks or you'll lose them.
