I originally thought the M&W Forum title was wrapping for you in the title bar (while viewing replies). I 'll take a look at the forums list too.

Had there not been ample room for the most recent post, I would have axed it, but I know a few people still use it for the less trafficked boards.

my rule for this "generic" mobile site, was only to use images when absolutely necessary (emoticons) or when words would have taken up considerable more room than an icon (locked forums and private threads). although the badges would be cached, there would still be a small hit.

fyi: the latest "build" now updates your watchlist (not yet viewable on mobile) and increments the thread view counts.

we will figure something out to make this more convenient.

So this idea hit me last night...

If you click on an "image link", it will now give you a thumbnail (highly compressed). If you click on it again, it will take you to the full picture.

If your phone doesn't support javascript (or you have it disabled), the link should take you to the full picture as before.

What do you think? Does it work on your phone?

pfidr34, i'm running a BB 9000 (5.0) simulator and it appears to naviagte to the picture when I click on the link. the behavior you observed is different, right? does the current page disappear when you follow the link or does the icon you described appear "over" the current content?

nactownag, can you describe what is occuring? does it allow you to follow the link to the full image?

howdydamnit04, i have concerns about how resource intensive the thumbnail feature is as the images are being scaled in real time. I'm watching its perforance now. the original plan was to only allow thumbnails for subscribers due to load. I felt the just-implemented option was better for everyone. if we did have an always-on thumbnail feature, it would probably be only for subscribers. i'll continue to watch things and make a call in the near future.
