A World Cup result like this is why the US team should be glad that soccer isn't more popular in the States. And, a result like this is another reason why soccer won't gain any more popularity in the States.

Changes must be made, and I think it's time for Bruce to go. He's taken the US as far as they can go under his watch, new blood is needed in the coaching ranks and on the team.

The penalty kick was biggest play of game. We just tied the game. We've got all the momentum going into second half. We had controlled the first half except for Reyna's brainfart.

Because in countries where soccer is huge, these guys would be shamed and wouldn't want to show their faces back home. They'd be receiving death threats and the ridicule of an entire nation.

are you serious we played defensively we need a win. you can blame it ont he refs if you cant find it iin you to balme another american. reyna played poorly while he was in there. you think it was a coincidnesce we scored as soon as he went out.

Wynalda is right on the money, Bruce Arena screwed up this world cup. The players really didn't show up, but they also weren't given a system in which they could be very successful to begin with. They had no chance to score more than a goal in any game with that passive, defensive formation they used. It was only when they fell behind that they attempted to get offensive. Thank Bruce for all he's done, but his time is up.

We needed big time pressure on the offensive end.

i agree we need to look outside the country for a new manager. hell, England has a Sweed, Portugals manager used to manage Brazil (not sure if hes brazilian/portugese or other). USA Soccer needs to sack up and bring in a top quality manager and pay him the coin he commands.

Simply put guys, we don't have finishers. We don't have a great goal scorer on this team. Our strength is our goalie, and speed at midfield.

I honestly don't know how much a strategy, formation change would have made.

We don't have a great goal scorer & tacking on an extra goal made a huge difference in how we played.

it also seems that we dont have anyone that can take a decent set piece. almost every one i saw was absolutely attrocious. We have a decent striker in McBride that is phenomenal in the air, plus a beast in Gooch, if we had a decent player to get it to them on corners or free kicks, we would have been ok.

I've always like Convey on set pieces. He looked great in qualifying and the few he did in World Cup.

Donovan isn't bad. Most are good, not great. Unfortunately, he seems to lay at least one turd per game. We saw it with 5 minutes to go. You can't squander those rare chances.

But Donovan is so weak in box and finishing that he has to take free kicks. If you put him in box, you're down a man.

But today, the problem was not service for set pieces. We had at least 4 guys get a head on ball. McBride's off the post was closest. You've got to convert better.
