Never turn down a difference maker. Zeke was absolutely a beast and steal on his rookie contract. If only that was the whole story.

If the cowboys would've passed on zeke, and instead targeted Henry in the 2nd round, we could've taken Ramsey or tunsil. Imagine how much better shape the cowboys would be in if we drafted and re-signed those guys instead of drafting and re-signing zeke? The first round rb is never worth it when similar (sometimes better) talent can be had in the 2nd round. Especially when you look at the rb position as a one contract position generally.

So S Barkley can't be drafted at 32 but he's a great pick at 33?

Ok, let me rephrase. Top 25 and certainly top 20 pick rb's are rarely ever worth it. We're picking 12 this year, and took zeke at 5 the year I was alluding to in that post. Rb is not worth first round in either of those 2 scenarios

Cowboys play Philly twice. They might have the best D-Line in football. RBs all over the place.

Stock that O-Line!

I'm not for trading Micah, but if you're going to that's the way you do it and get me to buy in.

You only add Garrett if you're putting opposite Micah.

Cowboys are hemorrhaging fans and the ones staying on board are apathetic af. If Jerry wants to pull some of them back here's how to do it.

The one Dallas absolutely isn't doing is hemorrhaging fans

But I agree ideally you'd put him next to Micah. I just don't believe this team would be willing to pay around $55 million in total to two pass rushers next season.

If Dallas were to throw their hat in, Diggs would have to be part of the package.

How is this not Buffalo? No inside info obviously, but this really feels like something Buffalo antes up for in a big way.

Washington also makes sense, which would suck.

Watch KC somehow get him…

Was listening to broudus on the show and they were talking about taking an OT.

Here's my question.

If you take the kid from Ohio state or banks, why can't you just move Hutton to RT (where he played at OU) and move Steele to guard.

Is there some reason Steele can't play guard? His strength has always been run blocking so maybe he is even better at guard?

Back to the draft stuff... I'm just now starting to sit down and watch film of some of the top prospects.

I'll say this about Jeanty. He will walk in and make our team better day 1. I'm in 100% agreement that, if you can, upgrade another position like WR or DT first... should still be plenty of RB talent in round 2 & 3.

But I won't be mad at Dallas if he's the pick. If he came out a couple years ago, I'd probably put him over Robinson & Gibbs. He's pretty special. Physical gifts aside, the guy appears to have amazing vision.

Last note, I don't expect him to be there. The NFL isn't quite as down on RBs as some people seem to think. And with what Saquon did for Phillly this year, I bet he's gone before 12.

if we were somehow able to land Myles (yeah ****ing right), it would almost undo the Luka pain

I think this is the strategy. Take a guy who is a LT and let Guyton go back to the right side, move Steele inside. Steele has been abused out there recently.

This brings to me something I've been thinking about in the first couple rounds. If you take Simmons in the first and then Morrison in the second, you e got the two best players at two premium positions. They just fell because of injury.

They may not be available or effective this season, but they are probably higher upside longer term plays. Just an interesting possible strategy. Call it the Jaylon Smith startegy.

Interesting. The guys were saying on the radio that Simmons should be ready to go by training camp. I don't think anyone anticipates any delay there.

I have no doubt Jeanty is a special player and worth a high draft pick, but with drafting Jeanty, even if we were to trade back a handful of picks, I feel like it would hamstring us for a few rounds because other positions of need thin out quickly, like WR and DT in particular. I'd really just love for us to take the best available for the first three rounds because I think it will be what we need.

Kupp available now. Shaping up to be an active trade market

hmm

Love the thought of Kupp but does he have anything left in the tank?

As a Kupp fantasy owner I think so. The rams for whatever reason just ran their offense thru Puka and threw Kupp to the wolves. Used him a lot as a primary blocker. When they did target him he still looked good. At 32 years old and a heavy cap hit, just doesn't seem like a fit here.

But we're all in.

I'm all about finding a way to get Myles to pair with Micah. Finding a #2 WR is better suited for the draft imo.

God luck finding a guy to go with Ceedee if you pick up Myles (not trying to be snarky). That's the thing about the NFL and why we don't see a ton of big time trades. 1st, 2nd and even 3rd round picks are soooo valuable because they often hit. Whereas in other leagues they more or less lottery tickets, so are you willing to part with three potential impact players in order to get one superstar? Maybe, but it's a steep decision.
gigem1223
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I get that. If we were to get Myles I'd be fine rolling into next season with a heavier run oriented offense and Tolbert/ Turpin/ Brooks/ Flournoy as your #2.

Not likely to happen but just throwing out scenarios.

If Kupp still has some juice, would def do a two year deal. Could free up an early pick to go BPA
gigem1223

Kupp has 2 years left on his deal with a $29 & $27M cap hit each year.

Kupp has an outsized cap hit for his age/skills. He's still a very good receiver but he's 32 and costs nearly $30 million a year. An aging possession receiver just flat out isn't worth that much.

Now Tyreek Hill? Maybe, but again how much are you gonna invest in one position when you already have an all pro and your biggest holes are on defense?

Hill's contract ($28M & $50M cap hit) is worse than Kupp's. Myles contract ($20M/ year) is actually pretty good value for the next 2 years considering his caliber.

I know, but Hill is a significantly better player and gives you something much more valuable and unique. Which was the point.

And I'm not against treading for Myles

If you did something like trade for Myles, which I too am not opposed to, you'd 100% have to max out the cap with free agents etc.

I have started looking at articles and mock drafts post-senior bowl, and here are the players that are almost 100% guaranteed to NOT be available when the Cowboys clock starts:

Abdul Carter
Cam Ward
Shedeur Sanders
Travis Hunter
Mason Graham
Tetairoa McMillan; and
Will Johnson

Those seven seem to be consistently drafted in the top 10, if not even the top 8. After that group is where you begin to see some fluctuation and a range of guys getting drafted (ie. Luther Burden could be taken at 10, but also at 18). Now, out of that group, I think Tetairoa McMillan could be the one guy to move down a little because it is believed that he will not run or test the best. I don't know if he'll make it to 12, but it's a thought.

If those seven guys are for sure off the board, out of the next seven-ten consistently being drafted after those, who would you take?

Malakai Starks
Will Campbell
Kelvin Banks
Ashton Jeanty
Tyler Warren
Mykel Williams
Jalon Walker
Josh Simmons
Luther Burden; and
take your pick of any of the other d lineman tbh lol.

I'd be fine with Burden or the Cowboys top ranked OT. Assuming the guy can play, never an issue drafting a key position early.

But I'm coming around to the idea of Jeanty and I think he might be high on our draft board. We know for a fact that the Cowboys want to run the ball next year and they cannot play the waiting game. Feels like they've done that in recent drafts and every year the group of RBs they are eyeballing in each round get taken 10 spots before their next pick. We HAVE to draft a starting caliber RB this year.

I'm still bitter over the Lions taking Gibbs. He was my guy 2 years ago. Would have been such a good pick for us but we never got close. Ended up with Mazi. &*%$#!!!

Speaking of RB, anybody think Deuce can still be a player for us as a 3rd back? Our running game has been such a mess since he got here and I just don't think he's ever gotten a fair look. I don't see any reason why he can't play a Darren Sproles role for us.
