The issue is, will that position be better off for the next two years after trading him? I thought the whole OC move was to win now, so does trading him give us a better shot at winning now? I'm all for maximizing value out of him right now, but we can't weaken ourselves right now for flexibility in the future. It's mainly money. He's good but not top 3 tackle in the league good. We need to start paying better players like Stingley.
My God our biggest issue by far this season was pass protection and we are going to trade the 3rd best pass blocker in the NFL. Make it make sense. I don't believe this at all.
Tytus Howard cap hit is only $6 million less than tunsil and he sucks. Tunsil is good value at LT.

Oh the terror 17 penalties in over 1000 plays. Definitely killed our season. I would totally prefer a LT who constantly gave up sacks.

I agree with that, but he was still top half of the league at the position, which is also one of the top 5 need positions on a team. So, while I agree he's not worth what we pay him, at the same time are we going to be able to replace him with something that is close to comparable? We're supposedly in win now mode with CJ's salary on the rookie deal, then removing our best pass protector without a backup plan is extremely worryingMaxPower said:

This is before the cuts and trades they'll make along with restructurings. We're not in cap hell, some teams are projecting negative caps. We are not in the same position as last year where we had tons of room.
The other thing is that with where the Texans are, they should be able to attract veteran talent that wants a chance to win the Super Bowl at more favorable contracts.

I take it that we weren't as interested in the way he wanted to do things. I don't see DeMeco letting someone else try to take over. My guess is Kelly wanted full control of the offense and the Texans didn't want that.

If he turned us down then he also turned down Tampa bay, which are the places with the best QB situation, then I have to believe we either wanted someone younger or he wanted to be in Vegas for reasons other than football

I'm shocked it's taken him this long to request a trade out of Cleveland honestly. Outside of 2 seasons they've been awful since he got there in 2017
