It was always gonna come down to Philly losing one to the Giants. The importance of this game is that we can still lose one more and, as long as it isn't to Washington, win the division if they lose to NY.

If Philly wins out nothing we do matters, we're locked into the 5th seed

The Iggles have now lost 3 in a row. Tommy Cutlets is gonna dice that secondary up. Still like our chances at the division.

I have zero faith we could beat the Niners, Eagles or Buffalo in the playoffs, and tbh I would be very nervous playing the Lions as well. We'd be playing them all away from home, and all of them have good or better offensive lines and can shove the ball down your throat if they want. The offense would have to be unconscious, and I don't have faith in that either, as evidence last night.
Eagles game was close on the road. Stop chicken littling

Our tackling in the run game is terrible. We have way too many guys diving at legs and trying to arm tackle.

The Eagles are cooked. I wouldn't be surprised if they lose two more games. Hurts can't throw the ball consistently and that defense is doo doo.

If both teams win out which tiebreaker goes the Eagles way?

It would come down to strength of victory and they'd win

The Eagles loss suddenly makes the Dolphins game next week more important. If the eagles won, the #1 seed would probably be wrapped up and we could rest people for the playoffs, but I guess we gotta try to beat Miami now.

The 1 seed possibility is toast. It doesn't matter if we win or lose to the dolphins, if the Eagles drop a game against the giants and we beat Detroit/ Washington, the Cowboys are the 2 seed.

Miami doesn't mean much at all actually. It still comes down to Philly losing one of their two games against the Giants. If Dallas loses to Miami but wins their last two they'll still win the division in that scenario.

The Miami game only matters if you respect the 49ers to lose twice which won't happen.

The consequences of losing your coordinator, or coordinators in this situation. They're so damn important. If you've got ones that are clicking with your team and they leave it almost always disrupts/ends the momentum of that team.

I think what we've seen with the Eagles is them continuing on despite that because of their talent. All year the talk has been "they're winning but they still don't look good"

Ben Johnson and the Lions are another one to watch should he leave in the offseason.

He's from Texas? That's why there were a lot of people that jumped on my comment a few weeks back about him.

Dude's a ****in player. I didn't watch much OSU, so I didn't know.

I don't know if Tommy Cutlets and the G-Men can beat the Iggles in Philly but they 100% can beat them in New York.
No matter what!

You can pretty much already see that the 5th seed is our path to another agonizing 1 game short of the NFC Championship game again! No way do I want to play SF with them coming off a bye week. No way.

It cannot be stressed enough how badly we need the #2 seed. The #2 seed gives us our easiest path to at least get to the title game this century. I'll take my chances with SF again in that game, but I want NOTHING to do with them in the divisional round.

Edit: Our saving grace in this scenario is Philly might not beat Seattle/LA in the wild card round. So there is a chance that the 5th seed would lead us to play @ Detroit in the Divisional round.

I see the Miami game as being important as another good measuring stick for where the team is at heading to the playoffs. Needs to be all about being in our peak form going into post season

Dome game against the Lions is probably best scenario. We definitely don't want to be in the elements with this team.

The offense has to show up against Miami. The defense is most likely going to be in a world of hurt dealing with Tyreek, Waddle, achane and mostert…offense is going to need to keep up

The Miami game is a moveable force meeting a stoppable object. Dallas is going to have a hard time stopping the run, but Miami hasn't beat a team with a winning record in a year and a half. I think Dallas's DBs are going to be able to contain the pass attack, so if they can contain Achane and Mostert I think Dallas will have the advantage. Not being at home doesn't help

So there's still a small chance that if both the Eagles and Cowboys win out that the Cowboys can win the tiebreaker based on strength of victory. Currently our SOV is 5 games back of Philadelphia's. Obviously with 3 weeks to play we could make that up if the cards fall right.

Root for:
Chargers
Seahawks
Panthers
Jets

Root against:
Chiefs
Bills
Bucs
Vikings

The way this team plays at home vs the road makes the 2 seed an absolute must to have any prayer.

Getting the #2 seed & winning the East are pretty much the same thing. We'd most likely have to win out to win the East which means we'd beat Detroit, giving us the #2 seed.

The only good thing about the #5 seed is the same now as it was a couple weeks ago... the NFC South team should be a gimme playoff win so that's good. After that, we really need to hope a lower seeded wild card team can beat Philly (very do-able) so that we don't have to play SF in the divisional round.

I really am enjoying this season despite a couple WTF moments. Such a fun team and, regardless of what happens, we know there are a minimum of 4 more games to play... gonna be an exciting month!

Bob's been discussion Mazi on twitter the last day or two. I tend to agree that we don't need to be so quick to judge someone a bad pick

Some of us have been saying that all year. I realize it's a different position but look at Tolbert, he was awful his first season and has improved so much. It takes time for most players.

The problem I see with Mazi in his limited snaps is that he gets pushed off the LOS two or three yards every play. He was brought in to be a run plugger in the middle. I can forgive him not being terribly productive as he learns the NFL game but at least expected him to hold some ground and not get beat so badly. You absolutely have to get production out of your first round pick every year though and he should have been able to step in and play meaningful reps.
Macarthur

Sometimes though you don't get immediate impacts from top picks. The point is that doesn't mean they are a bust.

Tolbert wasn't a first round pick, there is a huge difference between the guy you take in the 1st vs the 3rd. With a 1st unless the position is QB you expect immediate production from your 1st rd pick every year. Not saying he is a bust at all but if we draft a guy in the 1st too often that take three years to provide meaningful snaps then the talent level is going to drop quickly.

What production would you expect w a rookie 1T that everyone knew was not in a position that generates a ton of stats?

Let me give you the numbers on two guys.

Player 1 - 14 games 12 tackles 8 solo 1 sack

Player 2 - 13 games 18 tackles 8 solo 0 sacks

I agree with both sides. Of course you don't give up on a guy right away. He could turn out to be a fine player.

But..... there are some very concerning things that don't pass they eyeball test with that guy.

I have said this all season that DT is the one position that takes time, strength, and technique to develop. People expected him to come in an be Aaron Donald, which isn't going to happen right away

He was drafted to be a pillar. He was drafted because he ALREADY was strong.

Now he needs time to develop strength? I don't buy it.

Go look at the last 5-10 drafts and find a DT that was drafted in the 1st round that became someone if he wasn't already good his rookie year. You'll have an even harder time finding a NT like he was projected to be.
