Time to use a 1st round pick on a QB next year. We all know Dak is just not clutch and will always come up short in the big moments. Gotta quit wasting time on a QB that is just not good enough to put the team on his shoulders when necessary.

Sigh. We have so many more positions to fill than qb….need a run stopping DT still. Mazi is starting to give me Taco Charlton vibes

Starting??

We have had an unusually weak schedule this year. But we've played well against both the Eagles and Seahawks. This was always the gauntlet of our schedule and we're 3 games into it with 3 to go.

That was turd of a game though for both sides of the ball. The penalties are a huge problem and have been all year. Despite how ticky-tack the calls are (it's beyond ridiculous), we're still the most heavily penalized team in the league and that speaks to our discipline. These guys have to have more control.

McCarthy had a few headscratching play calls, 1 that I think he was trying to take a shot on 3rd & 1 and trusting his QB to get rid of the ball so they could go for it on 4th, and Dak took a 10y sack. Dak had some inaccurate throws, WRs had some drops, and the line got abused. On defense, Parsons needs to go back to LBer but it won't happen. Mazi is a huge disappointment and we need some meat in the middle badly.

Everything and everyone feeds off each other. If we don't get those dumbass penalties, or the offense/defense can make a few plays, it would have fed the other side to performing better.. They couldn't even start the ****in engine yesterday.

Buddy of mine is diehard cowboys fan like most of us. Listens to everything Cowboys and he told me the other day he gets the feeling Parsons wants to be an Eagle from listening to him on his podcast or interviews or something. Idk..

Thoughts? anyone else got that vibe.

Dak can't play in the rain. He can't grip the ball. I heard someone talking about this on the radio (think it always David Moore when he was on the hardline). He mentioned a game last year or the year before where it was raining and he was beyond awful first half, then wore a glove and was decent in the second half.

That doesn't bode well for the playoffs if we don't get home field advantage.

I'll say this one thing about penalties and then I'll shut up.... Holding:

I really don't really have a problem with the distribution of flags for any other penalties... PI's, personal fouls, etc... I might still think some of the calls are BS, but at least they are usually pretty evenly distributed across both teams.

But that brings us to holding... there is a HUGE discrepancy of holding not being called on the other team vs. what they are flagging the Cowboys for. I heard something the other day saying Micah had only drawn 2 or 3 holding calls all year.

We cannot consistently win against good teams if the Refs are going to continue the trend of "letting the other team play" and then call us for ticky tacky holding calls.

I don't think I have ever seen such an up and down Cowboys team, that can play so well, then look so bad....

It was just a really really bizarre game.

You had the roughing the passer that gave them 4 points.

Roughing the kicker gave them 7.

A very clear fumble that was missed by the refs, who are schooled to let the play go because it's much easier to reverse a non-fumble and that led to 7 points.

A very iffy hold call on 73 took away a first down that was in FG position and the sack the next play took points off the board.

The Cowboys weren't going to win this game, but had a few bounces gone a diff direction, that is a one or two possession game going into the middle of the second half. It was just so odd that the score was so lopsided yet Buffalo really didn't do a whole lot offensively but gash the D. Just a really weird game.

Do you are your buddy know he is from that area? He grew up liking teams from Philly, doesnt mean he is going to suddenly play for the Eagles

Didnt do a whole lot offensively but dominate the LoS and run at will on our defense?

So what is the plan for the playoffs if we match-up against a team like SF or Buffalo?
Are there even other teams really capable of doing what they do?
It doesnt seem like it at a glance, most of the other playoff teams have different styles of play.

I think the hope has to be our offense is playing close to optimally, which is very possible.
Then maybe our defense being ruthless on any turnover opportunities.
And probably both of those things at the same time?

Despite those 2 games going to poorly, I wouldnt have zero confidence that we could beat them in a rematch.

I have zero faith we could beat the Niners, Eagles or Buffalo in the playoffs, and tbh I would be very nervous playing the Lions as well. We'd be playing them all away from home, and all of them have good or better offensive lines and can shove the ball down your throat if they want. The offense would have to be unconscious, and I don't have faith in that either, as evidence last night.

Well, again, that's a bit skewed. Two of those possesions would have been taken away from them. They did have a ton more success later in the game once the outcome was decided. And earlier in the game, Dallas was running the ball and the pass pro was fine. Once things went sideways, it snowballed.

My point is that had that game been 13-7 or 13-3 or 9-7 or 9-3 at the half, who knows how the 2nd half would have gone.

Dallas has to figure out the run game on both sides of the ball. You just can't get whipped on the LOS like they do and expect to beat top teams

I don't know about these interviews but I could see the appeal to Micah playing on Philly's defensive line. Like how a star studded running back would like to play with the best offensive line in the game. I'm sure most of these guys, if not all, bury their childhood fandom once they become pros.

obviously I am aware of where he's from and he went to penn state.

In this day players are forcing their way out of teams. Less so in football, but it's happening. It's just a topic of discussion. I haven't heard anything, but he mentioned it.

I don't get those feelings at all. Micah may have grew up in PA but he and his dad have always been Cowboys fans. He wanted to come here. This was reported before we even drafted him.

One observation I had yesterday... and I think others who study film will tell you the same thing about this years team... Our safeties have to play better.

I'll call out Bones in particular. I saw one play last night where our front 7 had the interior run lanes completely locked down... There was nowhere for the RB to go inside. And here comes Donavan and he decides he needs to jump inside and, boom, there goes #4 outside for a huge play. Completely unacceptable and moronic run support by our safeties.

But the same goes for Kearse. I heard he's been banged up but I don't really care... when is the last time you heard his name called 2 or 3 times in a game. The guy is just NOT around the ball enough. We've got 3 safeties on the field a lot and I don't see them making enough plays.

The good news is that this team, and this defense, has proven to get coached up and make solid adjustments after losses or close games.

Safety play and LBer play was really poor yesterday. Ironically, I saw on Twitter that Mazi actually graded out quite good yesterday. I don't think DT was the main issue. With LVE out, we are pretty weak at LBer.

Yeah, I didn't watch the whole game and I was in no mood to rewind plays to analyze what the heck was going on.

But on several plays it felt like our D-line got decent penetration and good movement... and there was nobody there to fill the gaps. It definitely felt like our 2nd level defenders were not doing their part.

I watched most of the game, but I was pretty checked out... It seemed like James Cook sliced right thru our defensive line every play.

And **** me did he run a circle around Micah Parsons? Parsons is so busy getting stronger and putting on weight he's losing quickness and agility. Cook damn near ran a circle around him and Parsons just fell down.

He's frustrating the hell out of me lately. And I know it's really because we don't have a linebacker worth a ****, but he was supposed to be that guy.

Unfortunately the way to beat Micah has always been to run right at him. Teams were doing this last year when he was leaner and quicker

Its why he shouldn't be an every down, hand in the dirt DE. He's not built like that. He doesn't have the mass and especially the length necessary to play a 4-3 DE.

Lol Hurts was so overhyped. If it wasn't for the stupid tush push play and some very good fortune, the Eagles would be a .500 team.
