Colts are kind of making their last swipe at a run. They've been rotating older vet qbs through the lineup since Luck left and, at some point, they'll probably have to go for a younger qb. I don't see that this makes them a playoff contender but they're kind of if in the "not good enough to be great, not bad enough to be a top pick" purgatory.

The longer it takes them, the better, I hate the Colts. They get a generational talent in Peyton Manning, he gets hurt and they get another generational talent in Andrew Luck. After seeing what happened to us with Watson it makes me even madder to be snake bitten like us with what they've had fall into their lap. Our last no 1 pick was Clowney, we all know how that worked out as well.

And you're right, their window with Matt Ryan is small, really small. I don't know what their cap situation is right now but if I'm their GM I look at anyone that could help and try to get them on a 1 year deal because by 2023 they probably need another QB.

On top of that, Taylor's rookie contract has got 2 years left going into this season. So they're going to have to make the hard choice on signing him to a big RB contract or not. Since he makes that offense work, they're going to really need to try to find a way to make a run before they have to resign him.

This doesn't feel like a Caserio sort of deal. Trade for a guy, lose a high draft asset, and you still have to pay him? That's a bill OBrien deal. Also, that's the deal a contender does, not a team in full rebuild.

Also, there's going to be really good WRs at 13 that won't cost $20MM a year.

If the Texans are able to move out of the #3 spot and get a good return for it, I could see them going after Deebo in exchange for a possible late 1st rounder.

With that said, I don't trust any sort of rumors this close to the draft. This one particularly sounds like a move on the part of a front office to generate more interest. And I find it a bit peculiar that the two teams mentioned so far have some of the best draft assets available to trade.

Excuse the ignorance but why is SF interested in moving Deebo?

Isn't he a key piece for them? Did he request a trade?

I think as of today he's requested a trade, I'm curious if it's money or other things, or both. He's on a good team with a good HC that went on the road and beat Green Bay in the playoffs with Jimmy G. Right now SF still has a QB issue, they haven't traded Jimmy G, and I have no idea what the story is on Trey Lance. He's a big part of why that offense works in addition to Kittle. The other question for him is where could he end up that he's in a better situation? Green Bay traded Adams to the Raiders, a team like GB makes way more sense, even though they're still in the NFC. I just don't see trading away high end draft assets for a guy that wants a new deal. Houston has their first 1st round picks in years, and the assets required for Samuel will be substantial, look at the Adams trade. The only way I'd support it is if SF accepts what we accepted from Arizona for Hopkins, that I could live with.

The reports are that SF is willing to pay Deebo, but he is unwilling to negotiate. It is supposedly not a money issue and I have seen it might have something to do with how he is used in the offense. Playing RB as much as he did the second half of this past season could be bad for his long term health.

Deebo to the Texans ?

is this some kind of South Carolina connection thing --- Easterby, Dylan Thompson, Deebo...all Gamecocks

Trading 13 for Deebo would be a terrible move.

SF is not interested in trading him. He requested it.

Tuned in to hear what the radio waves were saying today and the guys in 610 had some good points

While trading for Deebo seems a little ahead of schedule for the Texans it would be a move that can built on.

They can build around him and use his addition to change the culture of signing guys out of retirement on 1 year deals.

They have the draft capital, the cap space, and the need. It's not such a bad idea.

if he is disgruntled on a winning team, how is he going to act with a team nowhere near being in contention for league championship game?

trading a first rounder would be BoB level dumb.

I'm not saying it's a good idea but it's not as bad as it may seem.

I can see a reason as to why it may be worth it.

I know that they won't be trading #3 or #13 straight up for Deebo. If they are able to move out of #3 to the back half of the 1st round and secure some future picks, then I could see some movement. But still, this seems like nothing more than on side wanting to drum up interest.

This is exactly what I thought.

Come on Texans, surprise us and do the smart thing for once.

Do Deebo is a decent RB and a decent WR but doesn't want to play RB any more. Why would Houston want him? I would much rather draft a WR unless they'll take a fifth round pick for him. Otherwise draft draft draft. Trade only for more draft picks.

Trading for Debo right now is akin to giving a 16 year old a really expensive and fast sports car. I would be all in on the Texans making a move for him, but in 1-2 years and not now. Doesn't make sense to pay for shiny toys that'll sit on our 4-6 win team.

The Texans aren't interested in trading for Debo. The 49ers leaked this story to scare him straight, the same way parents might use the Boogeyman.

Plenty of teams need a WR and would value Debo. The fact that the SF reporter picked the biggest dumpster fire organization without any real source is all you need to know.

Yes almost exactly what I've stated twice now. Regardless of the intent of the leak, there's a reason why the SF reporter mentioned two terrible franchises with a lot draft assets.

But all reason goes out the window a week from the draft. And every rumor is treated by the media as a done deal.

Did some digging on his contract situation, since he said this doesn't have to do with the money. Guess what? He's scheduled to make $3.6MM this year, $1.6MM guaranteed, and this is the last season. He's the 83th highest paid WR of 380. He's in the position to get paid, I don't blame him for trying to get his money considering his second deal will be huge and he doesn't want to jeopardize that. He's in line for over $20MM/year, after that deal is signed I don't think he'll be as worried about usage if the money is locked down.

I would bet it's a leverage play around not only getting the new contract, but also getting more than the usual amount of guaranteed money (or after Watson, trying to get the whole contract guaranteed) to ease his worries about the role.

You guys are overthinking this. The guy that won Cal's fantasy league last year had Deebo. So now Cal wants Deebo.

This may just be a joke, but you can't really rule it out.

I don't know about fantasy football, but isn't it widely known that while in the building of an NFL franchise Cal McNair is routinely in his office playing Madden at a 3rd grade level?

Sir, this is JANICE's team and her bridge group wants to kick the tires with another 30+ year old RB.

Article saying lots of teams at top of draft trying to trade down but not many want to move up, which is expected imo. Just dont draft a safety at 3. Thats all i ask

I would be just fine with them taking Kyle Hamilton...I would prefer it at 13 (if he fell that far), but I wouldn't be angry at all of they took Hamilton at 3.

there's just a lack of surefire top 10 picks this year.

(which always seems to happen with the Texans have high picks)

Good move....in doing the mock draft simulators, there is a huge gap between their last 4th rounder (108) and their 6th (183).

they had (3) 6ths and (1) 7th.

Schefter's tweet isn't specific enough to know how many of those they will have left....and which of NE's (2) 5ths they are getting.

My guess would be they got pick 170 for 183 and 245.
