I'm not completely convinced that would do it.

The power BoB and Jack Easterby have over this franchise is borderline criminal. They're basically running a scam and fleecing Cal. They've somehow convinced him that they're competent enough to run an NFL franchise.

Easterby is a former team chaplain and motivational speaker. How is he qualified to be VP of Football Ops for an NFL franchise?

They're both laughing all the way to bank while we all laugh at Cal.

Exactly! Even if Cal fires BoB and Easterby, I haven't seen anything to suggest that he'd make a good hire.

Bob McNair wasn't a great owner, but he had a ton of success in his career in order to become an owner. Cal hasn't done anything, and to me he is just a scared man in over his head.

Agreed. My working theory is that one reason cal named BOB the GM is he saw firsthand the disputes between BOB and Rick Smith that his daddy had to resolve. Cal hates confrontation and has no desire to actually run this franchise. So, his moves are designed to ensure he's never asked to actually do anything substantive.

So are we sure Tim Kelly is calling plays? This is the worst play calling we've seen since the Capers years. Almost seems like BoB knows Kelly would fail and is setting it up for him to take back over in a few weeks to show that only he can do that too.

Defensively they weren't too bad, I thought they actually were holding their own against the Ravens. However, when your offense score like a sloth running through molasses, no way they could have maintained that all game.

There's too many built in excuses: covid, no pre-season games, no fans, etc. for Cal to put on his big boy pants and fire anyone. He just doesn't seem like that kind of guy.

Admittedly every other team in the league has had to deal with all these same issues, but we see what we want to see when it comes to making excuses.

Plus to us as fans, we see a long pattern of behavior from BOB. Coming into this season Cal thought BOB was great. A terrible season would be seen as a blip or aberration rather than the inevitable path downward. Does anyone seriously see Cal dropping the hammer on BOB after what will be seen as a 1 season aberration?

Learned something about Cal:

Quote:

McNair attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a four-year member of the Longhorn football team.

I never would've guessed that. Now I'm really confused about how he can suck so bad.

Granted they have played the top 2 teams by most people standards in the AFC, but through 2 games the Texans are:

31st in rush defense (198 yards per game)
Tied for last in defensive turnovers with 0 (Detroit the other team)
Second to last in turnover margin (-3)
24th in total offense
30th in rushing offense
T-28th in points scored
26th in third-down conversions

I'm pretty confident they can lose at Pittsburgh, even with no fans there. I'm a lot more nervous about them losing to MInnesota at home. I watched the Vikings against the Colts and they are really bad. Hopefully Bill has some of that O'Brien magic and got for it on 4th and 5 at his own 2 yard line or line Watt up at slot receiver and have him tear his ACL. If we get that loss and get to 0-4, you've got a 4-game stretch where you play much-improved Jacksonville twice, at the Titans, and home vs. the Packers. I'm not saying you lose all four of those, but you can say you've at least got a shot. And the Packers are averaging 42.5 points per game, they might put up 70 on our PoS defense. Get to 0-8 vs. the Browns, which will probably be a scoreless tie. Then lose to the Patriots 40-9. That's 0-9-1. Is that enough to get BOB out? I'm not sure. Because I'm scared we might beat the Lions. And there's still the Bengals on December 27. How many wins gets BOB out? I'm totally down for 0-16 if necessary.

Whatever it takes.

The problem with sucking that bad this year is that we won't have any draft picks to reward us with cheap, controllable upgrades at key positions. Miami will have ours. Worthless management.

Hire a new GM / coach and year one is already going to be with one hand tied behind their backs. My best hope is they hire them and they get a year to get hands on assessments of talent to see where to spend their picks. That is, if BOB doesn't find a way to trade those away, too.

I'll take anyone as the coach over BOB at this point.

Lina Hidalgo
Dusty Baker
Russell Westbrook
Mace Windu
My grandmother, who's been dead since 1998
Wreck-it-Ralph
Our 1-year-old beagle who thinks nothing tastes better than paper towels
Skyler from Breaking Bad
Baby Billy from The Righteous Gemstones
Kathy Whitmire
Jerry Glanville
Spencer Tillman
Courtney, the new American Girl my wife just bought our girls for $90 billion.
Anybody.

We went to my grandmother's house every Sunday from the time I was born until I went to A&M in 1992 and like clock work every time we'd be watching the Oilers play she would say to my brother and I, "Boys, are the Astros winning?"

"Q: On 4th and 1, was it supposed to be a pass to Fells or did Deshaun have options on that play?

Bill o'brien: Yeah, the play was basically a bootleg. They zero blitzed us and we didn't have a lot of options there. We have to do it better. We have to come up with a better play. We just have to do a better job in every area."

Bill o'brien is the worst head coach in the nfl. He definitely needs to do "it" better.

If you're going for it deep in your own end you have to have a play or matchup that gives you a 99% chance of converting, I don't think running a bootleg where you hope someone bites meets that criteria.

That team went 1-13, winning Week 3 against Joe Namath and the Jets. They would go on to lose the first 5 games of the 1973 season setting a record for most consecutive losses (18) that was broken by the Bucs in their first 2 years of expansion (26 straight losses).

The '72 Oilers averaged 11.7 points per game and that 34-0 loss to the Raiders was part of a 5-game stretch where the Oilers scored 31 points TOTAL. Against the Raiders they had 89 total yards including -1 yards passing. Dan Pastroini was 3 of 21 for 31 yards and 4 interceptions.

Reminds me of the time the Texans beet the Steelers in Pittsburgh 24-6 with 23 passing and 24 rushing yards.

That may turn out to be a better moment than our current situation. As bad as it was, we ended up with the first round pick. We would eventually trade our selected player for a pro bowler NT and a hall of fame linebacker.

When we suck ass this year, all we get to do is help Miami improve.

But that's the thing even though the Oilers had a long history of suckage, at least they were interesting.

The Texans have pieces to be interesting, but BoB has made them a complete snooze fest. And that won't change until a BoB is gone and Watson can be Watson.

Today's apathetic Texans' pick'em contest!

I have to work all day which means I'm not punished into watching the game on TV, just on Gamecast. Make you picks! Or don't! I'm just trying to give this trainwreck more meaning.

1. Who wins the game?
A) Steelers B) Texans (just kidding, you know we're not going to win)

2. Do the Texans ever have the lead?
Yes/No

3. Do they have the lead in the second half?
Yes/No

4. Does David Johnson score a touchdown?
Yes/No

5. How many times does the TV broadcast mention that TJ and JJ are brothers?
< 5000 or >5000

6. How many times are you going to want to punch Bill O'Brien in the face (socially distant punch) for making a stupid mistake?
A) 0-5 B) 6-10 C) 10-100 D) I've never not wanted to do this.

7. How many yards receiving is DeAndre Hopkins going to have today for the Cardinals?
A) 0-50 B) 51-100 C) 101-150 D) 151+ E) Every catch he makes is another tiny needle stabbing me though my tortured heart.

8. How many penalties does our offensive line commit today?
A) 0 B) 1-5 C) 6-10 D) All of them

9. Do yo u still hate the Steelers from the Luv Ya Blue days?
A) Yes B) There is not other answer

10. How many more times am I going to get this banner ad for Chris Rock in Fargo on TexAgs?
A) 0-10 B) 10-3,000 C) Better than some election BS
