Kroger is laying off 3000 or about 37% of its corporate level employees over the next few years. Its not about woke anymore it's subtlety about AI replacing older and expensive personnel

That is neither the current nor the original definition of "woke". Woke as it has been used recently was a term coined on the left to describe people who were "awake" to new age progressive concepts such as their own "white privilege" and the "systemic racism" built into the society. It was rolled into everything under the guise of ESG and DEI, trying to force everybody to "confront their racism", "crush the patriarchy", and create "equitable" (not equal) solutions to sins of the past. Nobody co-opted it to attack the left, the left called themselves woke first and tried to force the concepts down everybody else's throats.

There is no "obsession" with trying to tie a company's troubles to it, it is simply an observation that is as predictable as the sun rising in the east. When companies forget who their audiences and customers are and start preaching leftist tropes at them instead of providing them with quality products and services, the end result is always predictable before it even comes to pass.

So it was ok for your side to co-opt the term for horrible policy ideas that make people cringe as much or more than the olds saying what the kids say. But when the other side gives it a quick label you get very very offended.

Like most things, I choose what I like and avoid what I don't like. I do think these media companies waste a lot on content that isn't entertaining to most people who just want a great storyline and not forced, awkward, BS. Every streaming service has them, except for maybe Paramount+.

It's entertaining to hear the resident Republican experts tell us what they think we think. Maybe they should make a series out of that.

Yes, I am very familiar with the various definitions of the WORD woke. But the CONCEPT of "staying woke" as a condition or mindset is rooted in recognition of systemic racism and has been for nearly a century.

And again, nobody demonized the word or concept until the left co-opted it as part of their progressive movement and began trying to shove it down our throats in the late 2010s.

I cancelled Netflix over a year ago, havent missed it. Although I really enjoyed The Diplomat. Huge fan of Apple TV and their programming.

Good point. There's way too much over paid people in every sector. It makes sense for companies to trim that fat if possible.
