I wouldn't want a liberal president saying hey Iran nuke Texas and Oklahoma, joking about the nuclear destruction of American Cities is not what we want from elected officials.
100%. It is absolutely ridiculous for him to say something like that.
No, it wasn't because that's not what he said. Really seriously comprehension is hard for some people.
His exact words were "Let them take LA" <crowd cheers in approval>. "Let them take San Diego" <crowd again cheers in approval>.
Why is it so difficult to state that was a stupid thing to say, regardless of whether he was joking or if he clumsily uttered the wrong words? Either way, the optics are bad, especially with the crowd cheering.
He was clearly saying that high fuel prices in the short term were far less costly than having an American city hit by nuclear weapons in the future, and it was worth the short term pain - a small price to pay.
No, he certainly did not say that clearly at all. Certainly not as clearly as you stated it. I don't think you would have said "Let them take out LA" if you were trying to make the point you stated Trump *meant* to make. Unfortunately, because of his stupid statement, Trump left himself vulnerable to criticism, which he certainly earned. And the cheering crowd did not do him any favors.
Why is it so difficult to admit he said something stupid?
Funny how you left this part of his quote out. These are his exact words. I'll post it again.
"I want to see a tremendous victory, you want to see a tremendous victory - because it verifies all the things we did. And again, where it is, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high, but it's a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, for keeping our country safe. They could take out a city. Let them take out Los Angeles ... let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay, and it's going to be over very soon."
Trump was perfectly clear except for those with TDS clogged ears. The small price to pay was referring to the temporary high price of fuel, not losing Los Angeles or San Diego to nukes. He flat out said it was a small price to pay for keeping our country safe. Last time I checked, Los Angeles and San Diego are part of our country.
He could not control how the crowd responded, but he didn't mean it at all like you guys are trying to make it out. It's bull**** and you know it.
You're trying so hard. A-plus for effort.
"Let them take out Los Angeles ... let them take out San Diego."
If he had left that part out, you'd be correct. But he tossed those two sentences in as red meat for his supporters. Everyone knows it. He can't stop being himself. He has intentionally inserted inflammatory gybes and hateful lies, threats, and insults into his speeches, interviews, and press conferences thousands of times. Everyone has seen it. He did it a dozen times in this speech. That is simply who he is, and his supporters love him for it. They love it when he expresses the same hatreds and animosities they themselves hold. That is the number one thing about him that appeals to his base.
I'm just trying to defend the truth. We all know you understand what Trump said and are still trying to twist into some sort of perceived political advantage.
Trump was clearly saying that the Iranians taking out one of those cities would be a far higher price to pay than the temporary fuel price increase we are currently experiencing, so the military intervention with them was worth it and would be over soon.
But by all means, keep wasting your time and running with your fake narrative. Anyone with a lick of common sense knows the truth.
Trump Derangement Syndrome is real, and if there was any doubt, this thread proves it.
