It wasn't a joke. People are just mischaracterizing what he said. He said the costs we've had are small in comparison and that they could wipe out Los Angeles. I don't agree that it's been a small cost, but mischaracterizations should be identified.

It seems clear to me, with the audience cheering at the end providing additional confirmation, that he made an off the cuff joke, as in LA and San Diego are lost causes, let 'em have 'em.
The nation has seen these images We followed the wildfire fiasco. We watched, unsurprisingly, the overnight change in LAs mayoral race. We watched in shock the corruption and fraud and politicians writing laws making it illegal to discover their crimes.
In short, we know what he's talking about. We can understand the context of the joke.
However, it is one of his personality flaws that we put up with. He's brash and inappropriate.
Of course the liberal, hysterical spin-doctors who also blamed Trump for anything and everything when it came to a wildly overblown pandemic are going to castigate him, for their own political gain, as though he truly wants to kill Americans when their is evidence otherwise about his concern for all Americans.

You have to be a very poor listener to "hear" what Mr. Trump said as any kind of a "I want LA gone" kind of thing. He is clearly saying that paying extra for gasoline is a way better alternative than what Iran could do if they had a bomb.
I feel so much better since about 11 a.m. CT on 20 Jan. 2025
Be kind. Our President doesn't exactly have full command of the English language. His rhetoric must be graded on a curve and always interpreted in the most generous way possible.
There is a new concept that some people are trying out. It's called "joking". I'm not exactly sure about how you pronounce it as I've only seen it written. Could be a soft "j". But if I get the gist, you say something that absurd to get a laugh from people. The thing doesn't have to be true either. Kind of a weird concept. I wonder if it will catch on.
This is useful for people with a sense of humor. Unfortunately, the TDS crowd is severely lacking in that regard.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.
This thread reminds me of trying to argue with a tree. Trees can not understand you, hear you or even reason with. Best to move on and let the tree willow in the wind.
The guy just said it at his rally in Nebraska. Unbelievable!
He shouldn't be able to say stuff like this or the Trump dividend. ( still hasn't paid out the doge check or Tariff rebate either)
I know there are a few people on here who didn't seem to mind when it was speculated that North Korea could reach Seattle with their missiles, but this should be alarming for most people.
It's blatantly obvious to didn't watch the real video. Just another liberal shill that believes anything your f'd up algorithm shows you.
Covidians, Communists, CNN, FOX, and all other MSM are enemies of the state and should be treated as such.

Have you ever met a joyful liberal? Usually they are just mad at everything and about everything. Its a miserable existence. Perhaps they think voting in their overlord, will change it.
Any and all Liberals upset over this is a fraud. Short and sweet. I didn't say ignorant nor closed minded or even dumb, yet those could apply. The uproar oh my god people, you're in luck. Today is Prime Big Sale day. You can get your vaginal cream delivered overnight and cheaper. Good luck.
Trump just "joked" about an enemy state killing 16,000,000 people living in the United States. That's assuming they take out the metros and not just the folks in the city limits. That would only be 5,000,000. But c'mon, it's California so who cares, right? It's hilarious! That Trump sure knows how to troll the libs!
On 9/11 we lost about 3,000 people, mostly in liberal areas. Was that funny? Did y'all gut laugh when 3,000 people in NYC, Washington DC and rural Pennsylvania died at the hands of a terrorist regime.
Pretty hilarious, huh? Now make it somewhere between 5,000,000-16,000,000. Still laughing?
Mean words vs actual facts and action is a thing isn't it? The attack on our country on 9/11 was certainly real and horrible no matter which party the victims supported. 100% of Republicans would agree with me.
And why is your party in love with those animals and their religion who killed 3000 of OUR people? TDS?
Why is your party welcoming them, fighting their deportation and ignoring/enabling/defending their massive theft of our tax dollars? TDS?
Why is your party against ending their ability to attack us and our allies? TDS?
I'm not a member of a political party. And what he said was disgusting. Sacrificing millions of American lives is a small price to pay for what? Explain that to me. About 400,000 Americans lost their lives in WW2. I have never heard an American President call that "a small price to pay." Make it make sense.
You obviously haven't actually watched the video of this part of the speech. That's the only politically correct to say reason you think he said anything remotely akin to "sacrificing millions of American lives".
Public school, huh?
At the very least, you have to admit that Trump's rambling made his statement a little unclear.

And again, remember with the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe. They can take out a city. Let them take, let it, let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego. That's, this is a very small price to pay, and it's gonna be over very soon. It's essentially almost over with.
"That's a small price to pay" could reasonably refer to the higher gas prices OR the taking out of cities. Trump hates California, constantly insulting them and calling them communists. Combine that with the fact that "this is a very small price to pay" comes AFTER two standalone statements about taking out California cities and it's not unreasonable to come to the conclusion that he was joking it would be worth it for them to take out those cities if it meant the war was ending. Especially considering the phrasing of "let them take it."
Your lack of critical thinking and ability to ascertain different potential meanings from a statement is telling…private school, right? Texas A&M is a public institution…why do you seem to think that "public school" is a negative thing?

Spoiler. No it won't.
This may be the most ironic post I've ever seen on this forum…maga is full of never-ending fear mongering and anger towards immigrants, trans people, progressive Christians, Muslims, and whoever else happens to be the target of the culture war of the week.
All the while they've sold their souls to shill for a racist criminal who is all over the Epstein files in order to 'own the libs.' But hey, being able to laugh at Trump's bigoted and treasonous remarks totally negates all that.

No, I don't. Even as a half-breed, I can understand basic ass English.
Public school is horrible. Always was going to be, as all socialized things are.
I don't even support Trump on a lot of things, since he's such a fiscal liberal. But this incessant push from the left to demonize every thing he says is beyond pathetic. Especially this time when it's obvious to anyone with an IQ above their shoe size that he was talking about fuel prices and not desirous of having cities nuked.

Now that you've mastered irony, you should give hyperbole a try!

But wait, Trump chose the temporarily little bit higher gas prices to avoid any city being taken out. And he is trying to convince others with the comparison that it is the obvious decision. But nuclear destruction is the eventual alternative if you don't do something about Iran, who has been at war with us for 47 years.
Is there a point where you are just too embarrassed to continue or look in the mirror and say "man, this logic and reason just isn't my thing"?

And no one "hates California". But everyone hates what leftist policy has done to a what was once a beautiful and great state.
