Do you think FlyDubai was ever going to staff the airline with native Dubaians?

amazing the airplane withstood those extreme forces....I guess Boeing can still build a good aircraft!

amazing the pilots were able to get control of the situation and then get control of the aircraft

Boeing B17s have seen worse damage and still landed safely.

F-15s have done well, too...

Too bad the F15 was designed by McDonnell Douglas and that specific F15 was built by McDonnell Douglas. Also, the B17 was built by and the bones of the 737 were designed by a very different Boeing. Time will tell if Boeing can rescue its image but I'm not sure this is it.

Reminds me of the story of the lone Saudi pilot on 9/11. Had to fill in because the Emirati couldn't do the job.

Sad state of affairs when you have to go to a Middle Eastern news source to read about the fact there was a stabbing on board.

The dems want to bring him here so he can run for political office.

I would be curious when the headlines were pulled for this tweet. If it was right after the event, they likely didn't know for certain it involved a stabbing but are rushing to get something out. If you go to those sites now, they are clear in saying it was a stabbing on their latest updates.

There are a number of things to get upset about with the media, but very initial reports on an event like this aren't one of them given the emerging details.

They interviewed passengers who saw it first hand. Lib media ignored that until they were forced to report on it.

That's fair but... they could update the headlines.

As of this posting, the headline still says "fight"

In fairness, there are other BBC channels on X that use a different headline:

On a slight tangent, I went to Finland last year and when I was going through customs, the young man kept asking me question after question after question. Quizzing me while I was there what I was doing there did I have proof, etc. It was interesting. I travel internationally quite often and that's the first time I've been scrutinized. And I've even been to Russia before. Of course I had to have a visa for that.

I finally had to prove to the guy why I was there with a printout that I had put in my suitcase of my itinerary and my flight back, which was unusual in itself because I usually just keep everything on my phone now. I did show him my return flight on my phone, but that wasn't enough. I'm not sure why he was OK with the printout. I think eventually I would've gotten through, but it was strange.

Maybe he thought I was a Russian agent.

That is not the Boeing of today. Thats when the engineers ran Boeing. Those B17 were ridiculous.

They are just so f***ing dishonest. On what planet does one man stab another repeatedly unprovoked and it's characterized as a "fight."

A fight implies two combatants willfully engaged. From all accounts the stabbed pilot screamed in anguish to alert the rest of the crew and was unable to fly the plane due to his injuries.

Now mix in the fact the assailant was a supporter of Islam and it takes the gross obfuscation up another 1000 notches. You don't hate the media enough.

If that plane wasn't on autopilot, have a hard time envisioning them dragging him out of the right seat with no one at the controls, unless someone had climbed into the left seat. Scary to think about.

Kudos to him, especially if he opened the door after being stabbed (some reports say pax broke into the cockpit, I have no idea, but in 30 seconds they would have had to have acted incredibly fast if so). Apparently, both a Russian and Ukrainian pilot were flying as passengers and helped stabilize/land the plane, though of course again unconfirmed to date.

Fly Dubai is a state-owned airline. They've been flying to Tel Aviv since 2023 pretty much continuously. I'm amazed at the traffic but also appreciate the thawing relations mean a lot at this time of (well, perpetual) conflict regionally.

Just to be clear, this picture is the hero of the flight and not the terrorist.

If that is confirmed... A Russian and a Ukrainian. Strange bed-fellows there!

You truly can't hate these "news" agencies enough. Completely despicable.

Thank the Lord for the fight of the pilot opening the door and the passengers immediately responding and taking control.

Islam is a satan-worshipping death cult. I'm so tired of people treating as anything other than that.

A slightly similar experience when I went to the UK on business years ago, a few months before 9/11 in fact. It was my one real overseas trip, so I'm not very savvy on these things.

My trip was supposed to be a week, but of course the SHTF and I had to stay another week. That actually gave me a free weekend (bank holiday weekend in fact) to do some sightseeing and catch up with some friends from London.

Anyway, I get to the airport to check in, and the airline lady seems perplexed. Finally, she takes my passport and disappears. I don't quite follow her, but I carefully watch where she's going, and she's discussing with customs people why I changed my flight.

They discuss things a while, then she finally comes back with my passport and checks me in to the flight. Now that I think about it, the reservation may have been made using my middle name (which I go by). One of the things that changed post 9/11.

I was listening to Fox Business on Sirius Channel 114 a couple of hours ago, and the announcer (don't know who it was), said the Captain pushed a button in the cockpit that unlocked the door.

Kinda hoping Southlake is reading this thread to get his input.
