Sure hope all those circular financing arrangements don't come back to haunt the AI Bros......

LOL.

Oracle probably took the low bid and screwed themselves.

LOL.

No amount of logic is going to convince the illogical that orange man isn't so bad that we should all vote for socialists in 2026. He wants to vote for a socialist who wants to kill the O&G industry, dismantle capitalism, open the borders, ban guns, legalize abortion up to birth, allow men to play girls sports and hang out in women's locker rooms, and pay for trans surgeries for little kids. We could be in for an epic down day on the NYSE...... (unless the plunge protection team is on the ball)

Oracle AI bet ****ting the bed, Fuel export ban on the table, Xi in DC for a big meeting, and those pesky 5 and 10 year interest rates with Bessent announcing another $6 Billion in intervention yesterday.

The Treasury Department announced that it will purchase a maximum of $6 billion of 20-year to 30-year bonds at its buyback operation on Thursday, matching the target from its last buyback of longer-term debt.
The Treasury Department previously bought $5.2 billion of 10-year to 20-year Treasurys in the first buyback of longer-term debt following its surprise Aug. 19 announcement that it would at least double the size of such operations. That fell short of its $6 billion target, indicating that there was a shortfall of holders who wanted to sell at prevailing market prices.

You are truly falling behind if you are not harnessing some of the latest models in AI. I use Grok Bots now for almost full automation of all of my workflows and it's mind blowing just how good they are now.

Good thing Oracle is not "the AI".

I'll keep using AI to greatly enhance my productivity. I encourage the rest of you to avoid it.

Yeah so the math doesn't math on the finance front with these data centers and big frontier labs and hasn't for a while.

Oracle is particularly vulnerable because of their massive contracts with OpenAI.

So we're buying old debt with new debt? Makes perfect sense. #wankingmotion

I made a career out of Oracle ERP. Used it to radically improve business operations at many locations. It's really good...at least it was really good a few years ago before I retired. (dgaf at this point).

Honest question from an "old".
I keep seeing people saying they are "harnessing" AI to help their day to day routines.
What? How?
Can you give concrete examples AND how to leverage the AI to do those things?
My experience with AI is typing questions into ChatGPT.

Its setting up humanity to be ruled by those who control it, because Humans will turn over all thinking to it. Thats what is coming. You might be able to do the work without it, but in the future, humans wont. Thankfully I wont have to live in that world.

"Declaring force majeure" makes it sound way more ominous than what may be the reality.

I couldn't find what precisely happened at this project, but force majeure is reserved for "acts of God" like weather events or casualty damage, and other uncontrollable circumstances, like say, a terrorist destroys the building or there's a massive labor strike.

That said, a 5% drop on one force majeure claim seems awfully steep. Theres a chance they made this declaration on dubious grounds like "lack of adequate supply chain" but most people would carve that OUT of force majeure, not include it, as people would claim it constantly.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

As an upper millennial who identifies as Gen X, I am old school and barely scratch the survace with my AI use, and am still pretty amazed by it's capabilities. I use it to take complex legal documents (which I really suck at reading) and extract the important nuts and bolts or change the legal jargon to something a layperson can understand. Again, this is a very elementary application. Some of our younger analysts are using it to do way cooler stuff...and relaying certain custom tailored prompts to us olds that we can use to complete certain tasks. It boosts efficiency like no other tool in the last 30 years imo...saves a ton of time.

That being said, I almost wish we could freeze it where it is right now, or where it might be a year or two from now...as a healthy job aide. I am one that worries that it is going to be a net negative in the long term...and possibly might eventually view humans as parasites or a virus...a plague upon mother nature...seeing it as their duty to kill us all by weaponizing a hyper deadly virus or simply just cutting electricity worldwide and letting us all kill eachother. Terminator 2 really did a number on my generation.

It's not cancelled, just delayed (which pretty much means it might as well be cancelled with the pace of development of these projects and payment schedules/schemes)

This single event won't end the AI build out industry but it's definitely going send significant shock waves throughout the finance world.

Before we had Lehman fail in September 2008, we had Bear Stearns fail in March 2008......

Think of AI as a dog. You put the harness on the dog. Now you have "harnessed" the dog.

Hope that helps.

AI isn't going to die. It's going to dominate and run our world two decades from now.

The faux economy and ponzi scheme we've propped up on the back of it with fake promises and name changes to Super Intelligence? Yes, that is going to die a quick, and very painful death. And soon.

An AI Harness basically means you are giving it tools to use. The "Harness" is usually an application that runs on your computer. It's wired into the chat responses coming from Claude, chatgpt, etc... so the harness/app can act on the text/instructions provided by the AI. Anthropic has multiple harnesses Claude code, Claude cowork. OpenAI calls theirs Codex. So instead of just sending you a response in text it can do things via your computer. Run commands, browse the web, use applications installed on your computer, etc...
