jk...but yes, I do agree...luckily I still believe the majority of churches within those two denominations are still strong. At least in the south and midwest.

Yes, but is it also ok to find this level of blasphemy and heresy from a regional politician's "pastor" noteworthy on a message board thread about said politial candidate?

Almost 20 years ago we were discussing Obama's preacher on here for his racist remarks and anti-American statements like "G*d damn America". Don't think it changed anyone's vote, it was just noteworthy to some of us...and I wish millions of others had found it half as noteworthy.

Not much left of the Presby, Methodist and Episcopal "churches" these days. Damn shame what they've become.

I'm a Christian and I follow no creed; I follow the Bible, specifically, the Gospel. If both happen to be the same, so be it, but there's no "bare minimum" outside scripture. In fact, there's nothing outside scripture as far as the Gospel is concerned.

John 3:16 says most everything. What it MAY not cover is covered in John 14:6.

Don't add or subtract anything from the Gospel. Its all you need. Don't overthink this.

Hey, hey, HEY! Not ALL Lutherans. Some of us are LCMS.

That's her belief, and that's fine. Many have noted the obvious parallels between our religious traditions and pagan beliefs. However, what bugs me is that Jesus (and most of the folks we know and love from the New Testament) were very much real people that existed in history. That's not really debatable. The figure we associate with Jesus his profession, lineage, etc is very much known. We can debate whether he died for our sins, was born from a virgin, cured lepers, etc. We can debate whether he was religiously and historically significant. But It is highly unlikely his existence was 'made up'.

Who recorded this pastor? Did she know she was being recorded so some clown could use it against her? Seems so, which is really chickensheet.

I agree, it wouldn't sway my vote, but I think they're trying to sway independent voters....or.....the even bigger "white women" who believe they're voting for the caring Christian pastor who really does believe in Jesus and really isn't gay and really loves BBQ.

I've said all along that I believe Paxton will win. That said, if this kind of gross belief makes Talarico electable in Texas, of all places, then we are truly doomed as a country. Texas reflects the real American ethos and work ethic that made the US what it was before we lost the deep blue states. We have always believed in God, and our overwhelmingly Judeo-Christian faith has carried us. If we lose a Senate seat to someone like Talarico or Beto, that seems like a slope that is to slippery to get back up from. We see the wokeness and the lies being taught as truth and literally can't do anything about it in these deep blue states. God please protect Texas from a similar fate that has lost so many other blue states in this country.

I don't think it's as much voting FOR Talirico as it is against how much of a ****ty person Paxton is and the knock on effects of Trump's war for Israel.

What is the point of actually spending the resources to go through the motions of campaigning and having an election if everyone has already made up their mind and would never change their minds?

Well, if Talarico gets elected, he's gonna support all of the woke stuff and it will be 6 years of it for our state. That's 6 years of him being made into the next Obama to run for office in 2032.

I may have to send her a copy of the Jesus discoveries. That book is full of information and can set anyone on a path of discovery who wants to learn more. It actually was so interesting to me that I intend to frame my retirement activities on that same path. Hard to believe all those books behind her lead her to be so authoritative on a faith she evidently misrepresents. The factual basis of the early church and Jesus's existent from my perspective only continues to grow the more we look into it. And I'm just beginning to scratch the surface.
