Also, based on the terrain, it looks like they chose some of the worst places to build such infrastructure. Though, maybe flooding in that valley has never been an issue?
This image helps explain what happened along the Nepal–Tibet border. According to reports, a magnitude 4.4 earthquake on the Tibetan side triggered a massive ice avalanche, which then led to the flash flooding of the Bhotekoshi River in Nepal. Around 1,000 people are missing, and… pic.twitter.com/2n46czGNoB

Prayers for Nepal.
Never had a chance. They were dead the moment that lake burst how ever many miles up the mountain.

So where did the water come from? I get there was an ice avalanche, but was there dammed up water behind it that all let loose at once, or did it dam up something else and shunted river water where it normally doesn't flow?

Scientists told the New York Times that the flash flooding in Nepal/Tibet was likely caused by a 2,000-foot-wide chunk of ice that broke off of a glacier and fell around 4,000 feet to the valley belowhttps://t.co/2h5JFav3u5 pic.twitter.com/OHHoXXcWQB

I work with Sowers Ministry in Nepal and many children from our orphanages are missing this morning. We will be showing several videos and pictures tonight and Sunday in hopes of getting some help. Our office there was also damaged. Sowers Ministry home office is in Kingwood.

I guess global warming caused the earthquake. Worthless rag.

There are giant ruts and ripples in the ground in western us from ice damn breaks as glaciers from the last ice age melted. Referred to as Missoula floods and a single large event called the Bonneville flood

It's coming out the landslide WAS the earthquake. The earthquake that was detected was the fault of the landslides, not the cause.
The force of floodwater is so powerful that it moved this massive house sized boulder during the devastating floods that struck parts of Nepal and Tibet pic.twitter.com/JunNhJzYdV

Was in Mexico, last week and our guide for the Mayan ruins tried to say that their burning of limestone for lime for mortar was early indication of people causing Climate Change.
I'm like, really? What did they use to measure temperature and was it in F or C?!
