I think in general it's bad for the "vast majority" of jobs to go to either men or women, but there are posts with lots of blue stars on this thread that say stuff like this:

"I own my own business. I have never hired a woman. I will never hire a woman.

Why? For most of this country's history, the vast majority of the jobs went to males, and we built the greatest country/economy the planet has ever seen.

The best person should be hired, regardless of gender, race, etc... That's not been the case for 20+ years.

Agreed. Back to my earlier comment...the common factor in the women in my wife's peer group - all Gen X with one borderline Boomer/Gen X. All very smart, capabile women who avoided drama. Just more proof that Gen X was peak society before we went off the rails. Unfortunately, we are the smallest demo.

Dang good deal! I used to get on-base haircuts for $4 and off base haircuts finished with warm shaving cream and a straight razor for $6.

Prices today are ridiculous and the most annoying part is that they charge me full price and about 35% of my hair is missing.

You think they just came to that conclusion on their own? Just randomly? Or that they are part of the "female woman haters club"? Maybe it's from experience and observations? Many women will tell you how cut throat other women are, but how they never have to worry about this with male bosses or coworkers.

Again, not ALL of them, but MOSTLY them. Literally the ONLY corporate problems i have seen in my 20+ year career have been between women. I have never ever seen two men refuse to work together because they don't get along, or go from being best friends to arch enemies over the most stupid sh**.

So women will work in corporate jobs and become CEOs making millions.

Men will work in blue collar jobs making 100k to 150k and be happy that they are "working with their hands".

This is the world we are moving toward.

Good question. It definitely wasn't in the scholarship application process back in 2000; being a while male definitely cut down the opportunities. (Though I managed to get most of my undergrad paid for anyway.)

Broadly I would say if you were dealing with with anyone born before 1960, they would participate in the good ol boy network and would bring in younger folks if they were good guys. Anyone born after that time did not seem to have the same driving philosophy about helping folks that were similar. They had gone through public school Whic had poinsoned them against being good to people with your same values

A lot of folks confuse 'good ol boy network' for standard networking. When I got my first real job in oil and gas, I met a lot of great folks in industry. When I was laid off, I just reached out to all I could. Eventually, I landed a job for no other reason than than the guy knew me. I walked into work Monday past a stack of 28 resumes from people with better credentials. I'm a huge fan of nepotism and good ol' boy networking. It's what makes the world go round.

Successful people and rich people are not rich and successful because they are lucky or 'amazing' at their job. They are successful and rich because they know the right people to the help grease the gears a bit.

Im not white knighting anything. Ive worked my whole life, been around mostly good people and taught hundreds of high school students that I try to keep up with many of.

My anecdotal evidence is kids who are "victims", get coddled, play too many video games, are afraid of getting dirty, turn in to young men who cant find a woman, are living with their parents, and dont try because they think the world is out to get them.

The young men who quit complaining and do what ever other generation of men had to do (work hard, show some guts, and not be scared of work) are killing it. You tell me what the common denominator is.

And to combat this, HR is pretty much not allowing any white males to be hired. At any level.

My small team had 3 dudes and a 1 girl. All hired because they were freaking competent. My boss was a woman. Our lead architect (across teams) was a woman.

HR told me that we don't have enough women, and so i was only sent female resumes.
