Mid-Terms and Underlying Issues

In this article, Morris points out quite a few issues that point to strong support of the Trump Administration. To me, the direction of the support is based on pure common sense which is how Trump is governing. Of course, there are other issues important to people, but these stick out as major support issues. You often hear it gets down to "It's the economy, stupid!" The most glaring weakness in the economy is inflation rising again. Common sense tells you it's energy cost driven. Common sense, also, tells you that once energy markets stabilize after the Iran conflict, energy driven inflation should be a non-issue. Most people get that, but we do have a sizable population that don't understand math or basic economics. Can't remember exactly what they are called, but believe it starts with a "D".

Based on this article and polling I am not very concerned about mid-terms.

History and the economy says you need to be concerned and if the Iran problem is still around it really should be concerning.

Expecting common sense from voters may also be a bridge too far.

I wouldn't call his family "a sizable population", but "Donald Trump" starts with a "D".

It might be hard to believe because this is a echo chamber but alot of people aren't happy with Trump going to war. Just because all the other posters call anyone disagreeing with this war a Democrat or leftist doesn't mean they are. I was a big time Trumpster until the Epstein thing and the other broken campaign promises. I don't think I'm alone it's going to be a bloodbath.

Levin, Shapiro Epstien class and the neo cons are aleady setting the table blaming the woke right. The spin will start the ruling party never does good in mid terms enough excuses to make people think a Isreal first Rubio can still win the presidency in 28. On one hand: save the world at the expense of a little inflation, don't don't chop off kids genitals.

On the other hand: purposefully tank the economy and put the accelerator on the floor with identity politics.

Hrmmmm. Tough choice.

No one is going to trust the current dem party with the economy after Biden.

We voted for:

Mass deportations. Our government is permitting the entry 500,000 Chinese and permitting green cards for those that graduate with top grades. Trump also reversed his position on prohibiting Chinese from buying US farmland.

DOGE. I'm not sure if a comment is even needed with this one but we have zero arrests with government waste.

MAHA. 55 republicans voted against prohibiting the sale of sugary goods to people using SNAP.

No new wars...but here we are spending $1bil - $2bil a day to bomb Iran.

Release the Epstein files. Clearly, it's not going to happen 100% and no one is doing anything about it.

On top of this, the house has voted yes on Section 224 of NDAA. This merges Israel and US military.

We are an occupied nation and I have serious concerns for our liberty and the future for our children. I cannot recall the last I was let down this much by our federal governments decisions.

The part of the war I'm not happy about was how it was framed from the outset.

Should have messaged what a difficult task it all would be from the outset and set expectations. Then messaged the great military successes as being ahead of schedule, but added "now the hard part begins"

Not only would it have exceeded expectations, it would have increased justification.

Should have had the Lou Holtz approach to talking about the opposition

The dims and the media are going to make it all about the economy, affordability and ICE.

Trump better end the war very soon and get gas prices down or the midterms aren't
going to be as rosy as most of the people on the board predict.

Trump promised a much better economy and as of right now he hasn't delivered.

So the only things that matter to you are Epstein and Iran/Israel/Jews. Do you really think the Democrats are going to do anything other than destroy this country?
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Shockingly, the growing debt size will continue to be a non-issue. Democrats will ***** and moan about it while completely ignoring their contribution but the fact is nobody believes it has an immediate, direct impact on them.

Even if Iran had never happened you should worry about midterms.

History shows that all but 2(?) times the populace simply gets bored and votes the other party in because they are mostly feckless tards who can't concentrate more than 5 min on much of anything.

Especially in this social media driven age we now live in.

Yeah, it's a nonissue at this point until the math collapses. Zero point in even talking about it at this point, frankly.

This line of thinking will continuously be baffling. It's difficult to understand how anyone who is Pro-Trump could ever think a Democrat, especially one as deranged as Newsome, would be a better option.

And for the record, Trump has kept (or attempted to keep despite trash "Republicans" in Congress and Partisan, deranged judges) a majority of his campaign promises. Sadly, it's seems to be human nature to focus on the negatives far more than the positives.

I'm going to defend him. He's clearly not saying Newsome would be a better option. He's simply saying some will pick Newsome as a result of Trumps perceived failures and broken promises. [edit: maybe you aren't saying the poster is saying that himself]

And many will. People are fickle idiots especially the ones in the middle and the RINOs.

I'm not.

And to add, even if you are mad at Trump specifically or the Republicans in general, that shouldn't be a reason to ever sit on your ass and let the Democrats get close to even sniff a little bit of power. How much faliure do you need to see over and over again to just give up and let them run ruffshod over the American people?

The excitement is definitely gone. In today's elections you need your base to turn out in record numbers. Even losing a small percentage when things have been 50/50 for a while can hurt.
This is true especially in this midterm where the opposition is completely out of power. Their base will be motivated.

This is what it boils down to, in my opinion. Do you want more of the transformative destruction of the Obama/Biden years or do you want to give Trump time to turn things around? His policies have the major support of the American people. Common sense stuff. There are still swamp creatures in his way that are systematically being weeded out. Cornyn, for example. The positive change we seek doesn't happen overnight. You have to stay the course.

You're mistaking your common sense for the rest of the country's common sense. Mid terms are always tough on the party in power and when the economy stinks it makes it even tougher. Trump has not helped his cause in 2026.

It just seems like people here are ignoring the reality that has almost always happened with mid-terms. Trump could have done everything right in his own supporters eyes up to this point and there would still be a high likelihood that Dems win the mid-terms. With many disappointed in him you will see some folks sit out or some dumbasses even vote Democrat.

I'm not sure what the dimwits can run on:

inflation? It's going to go back down, especially after driving season.
Overall economy? How is it worse than during Biden years and let's not forget them shutting down schools and causing businesses to fail during the COVID scam.
Border security and immigration? Not a chance. The American people love what he's doing. I grew up in the RGV and the people down there were tired of the open border. They even voted Red which I thought I'd never see.
New Wars? Iran will be settled soon, but depending on who is in power I can see Iran causing trouble before Election Day to try to derail Trump.
Racism? Majority are tired of this narrative.

Add to the above. Who are their leaders? The whole party is at all-time lows in favorability ratings.

With all that being said, turnout will be key. Trump knows how to fire up his base. He's done it in recent primaries to oust some RINO's.

Well, unfortunately, common sense and an objective weighing of issues doesn't really matter at this point for the feckless middle who decides elections. It will come down to how they feel the morning they wake up on voting day.

True. We often blame the direction of the country on politicians, but it's deeper than that. It's the middle who keeps flip-flopping back and forth which kinda makes us a joke on the world stage. Other countries have to adjust to us every 4 years. We can't seem to stay the course, but I truly believe this time is different.
