I think every dollar the DNC is pumping in from out of state will just remind most Texans of why they don't want to vote for Talarico. And any dollar the GOP could spend would just remind most Texas of why they don't want to vote for Paxton. So Paxton is just keeping his head down and hoping to coast by on the (R) next to his name.

I think it says more about Cornyn than Paxton that one of Cornyn's staffers would leave to join Talarico's campaign. The fact that he had people like that doing his work for him and giving him advice is why Texans voted overwhelmingly to give him the heave ho in favor of Paxton.

Nobody is objecting to the guy having the right to go to work for Talarico. But it does say a lot about Cornyn that this was the kind of guy he had advising him on legislative affairs and when the guy jumps ship on the party and starts working for the opposition, Cornyn feels the need to jump to his defense. Don't be surprised when Cornyn becomes the pet "conservative" on CNN or MSNOW in the next year or so.

Oh yea I wasn't referring to that part. I've known a couple people who worked in politics and people sometimes jump between parties, just normally not one as extreme as Talarico. Was more referring to his point about them needing to appeal to the middle and not only rely on the votes that are already banked because Paxton has an R next to his name. Especially in a non presidential year where apathy can be an issue.

It says an absolute ton about Cornyn and his staff, current and former. It's of course public knowledge Cornyn and Paxton, as well as their staffs hate each other but yet again Cornyn could also forcefully endorse Paxton vs. the DSA Dem if he really had any principles, which he does not and never has.
