LOL! Look, I understand many of you are going to vote whomever is representing your party in the election. I just refuse to do that. You have to earn my vote - It's not just yours because you won the nomination!

Paxton is not a conservative, he's MAGA, which is populist not conservative, believes the Dems have stolen elections (conspiracy nut job), and he's a terrible, terrible person. I don't want a terrible person representing me in Congress.

Talarico also sounds like a nut job. And he was part of the Dems "Run away!" strategy when they didn't like the Republican lead legislative agenda. He's simply not a serious person.

So no, I'm not voting for either of those losers.

The original allegations of bribery were brought by his own office staff. This was part of the charges brought against him at his impeachment by the Republican controlled House. The "good ole boy" Republican controlled Senate let him off.

Wrong. The staff that brought the charges were placed under oath and given the opportunity to provide evidence. They revealed there was no evidence, just a 'gut feeling' and hearsay.

So, your 'good ole boy' Republican controlled Senate let him off for lack of verifiable evidence. I'm sorry that their failure to jump on the tar & feather and pitchfork bandwagon didn't meet your expectations.

Choosing not to decide is a decision in and of itself. You can't absolve yourself from responsibility for that decision by saying you didn't vote for either of them. Part of being an adult is making hard choices.

What do you mean they were not on his staff. They worked in the AG's office and are getting over 8 million dollars for being illegally fired.

Programmed useful idiots love to lecture with all their expert knowledge from Pravda about conservative vs "maga". They think they're smart when they bring up all the msm narratives and buzz words.

Yeah, the masses are supposed to be scared of the populist movement that only arose in response to the socialist bureaucracy and socialist party amassing too much power.

There's a pandering socialist false prophet vs a state Ag with a long track record of defending the state and suing the feds for overreach. It's easy.

A matter of fact belief in Paxton being guilty of bribery or corruption doesn't reflect reality of a lack of evidence despite FBI being all over it for years. The socialists need people to believe it's true and that his crime is worse than electing insane socialist nut bars to the senate.

And that's supposed to get me to vote for a Marxist apostate instead?

That's what primaries are for. The fact that republicans chose a criminal like Paxton instead of a statesman like Cornyn says all I need to know about Texas republicans.

Your side took out Jasmine when it was determined her ghetto fabulous rhetoric and faux personality was polling low with hispanics and scaring white moderates.

So that's what the primaries are for. The fact that democrats chose a beta, commie, weirdo, white boy, like Talarico, instead of a strong, black, female, rising star of the party, says all I need to know about Texas democrats.

comrade, the Presbyterian minister is an "equity consultant" for an org that wants to defund police, voted against tax cuts and bans on wealth tax and income tax in Texas, talks about equity all the time, thinks whiteness carries disease, and even panders to the existential threat of climate crisis to support green new deal govt spending.
voting against tax cuts is not communism. saying "equity" isn't communism. wanting money spent on climate isn't communism. bad takes on race are not communism.

communism is about the abolition of private ownership over the means of production. you have not alleged it, because talarico has not proposed it. you've just listed a bunch of things you don't like and stapled the "communism" label to it.

Ploys to continually increase the size of an already massively bloated government leads to socialism. The equity and race takes the wealth tax are straight up Marxist tactics for class warfare.

This. The "he's not in jail so he didn't do it" argument is one of the dumber ones you will see from folks who are fans of Paxton, and not simply voting for him as the least bad choice. By that logic, Joe Biden is a saint who never retained classified records nor used his office for improper personal benefit.

Oh, come on. You know better than this. A couple of HUGE problems with this so-called analysis.

First, Biden has WAY more political clout, regardless of his last decade and a half engagement in various corruption schemes and incompetence, than Paxton. Indicting (much less convicting) either a recent Vice President (Biden 2017-2021), an "elected" President (2021-2025), or past President (2025-) would be FAR more difficult than even putting Paxton in jail for life on bogus charges.

Second, the allegations surrounding Paxton have been around for almost 15 years and they are nowhere near as specific as those against Biden. When his detractors run out of one form of mud to throw against the wall (securities fraud) they go on to something else (Nick what's his name).

Hell - you gave 2 things we KNOW Biden did. He ADMITTED doing it, at least in terms of influence over Ukraine. Can you be specific as the things we KNOW Paxton did? The Texas Senate sure couldn't.

I know you don't like Paxton and that's fine. But please don't compare him to Biden. Or even make false analogies.

Correct. Every election you have some who are fence sitters, they are above it all, and aren't voting for one of the two people in the race. And they want you to know about it, lol. One candidate will lose, one candidate will win, their guy or girl will get very few votes. But, by golly, they are not voting for either of those who have a chance to win. They showed them, and they showed us! Hey look at me!

It is always going to be the lesser of two evils in elections. I suppose I vote against one candidate more than vote for one candidate. But just in case one vote matters in the final tally, I will vote for the one I'd prefer over the other.

I still get a kick out of the securities fraud angle.

Though technically correct, (Paxton should have disclosed he was receiving "compensation" for the privately held shares he was promoting) the reality is that the compensation he received was shares in the company that were worthless unless the company went public.

As the company folded before going public, Paxton ultimately received zero compensation other than a public black eye and a fine by the SEC.

Not exactly a profitable venture for him. Stupid? Yes. But grounds to declare he's an awful human being? Not remotely.

Byron Cook (see Polo Road Gang - 11 republicans joining democrats to elect Joe Straus speaker in 2009) made the accusation 4 years after(2015) his investment which was after Paxton challenged Straus for Speaker in 2011 and defeated their buddy Dan Branch for AG in 2014.

I've been on both sides of this debate for most of the past 20 years. As a counter I'll just say that while you're right about any given election that attitude is part of why nothing changes. Both parties know their core constituency is going to vote for them to stop the other party. It's why the fickle middle is all they're really chasing and they do so by pointing out how bad the other guy is. Our system pretty much guarantees two parties and this is the result of that, we get to "choose" the lesser of two evils.
