paxton got himself impeached by a republican house 121-23. his own party. the articles were about him using his office to help one donor, nate paul, in exchange for paul employing the woman paxton was having an affair with and remodeling his house. his own deputies blew the whistle on him for it, eight of his top staff went to the fbi about their own boss.

then he fired them for it. they sued for wrongful termination, and paxton tried to make it go away with a $3.3 million settlement using taxpayer money. the legislature balked at funding it, and that proposed payout is what triggered the impeachment investigation.

so tl;dr: abuse of office for a donor, retaliation against whistleblowers, and an attempt to bury it with public funds. that's without even touching his 2015 securities fraud indictment.

lol, the house put nobody under oath because the speaker was out to get him.

The senate made testimony be under oath so the testimony changed quickly, thus the impeachment failed.

Some things are pretty easy to figure out.

the senate acquitted, it didn't find the testimony collapsed. whistleblowers like bangert and vassar testified under oath in the senate and stuck to their story. sixty house republicans still voted to impeach. "phelan had a vendetta" doesn't explain away his own deputies going to the fbi

"Republican." And many who voted for impeachment were promised that there was lots of evidence that would be presented during the hearing. There was none. It was a lie.

And that same lie was peddled on this board by "connected" "republicans." It was still just a lie.

I dislike Paxton, vehemently, since he didn't protect us Texans during COVID, but this isn't the flex you think it is.

Yes, he was. Which speaks volumes about the Republicans (who suck, in general, as they're not overly conservative) versus Democrats. Democrats would never hold their own accountable.

"How much time do you have?" Followed by a repeat of the story about how he was acquitted.

The dude has been a socialist's worst nightmare for a decade and thus constantly attacked by dems and msm and then had four years of Biden's DOJ up his ass and … nothing…

We have more time. What else do you have?

For the same reason they supported Cornyn. The Bush/Bonnen/Phelan/Burrows wing of the Party has never liked him and they shot and missed - again. They never forgave him
for beating George P. Bush for AG. There is no proof of any of their accusations. Only hearsay, innuendo, supposition, and second hand he-said, she/said. The entire impeachment was a sham. You don't escape 19 counts of impeachment if there is one shred of evidence to convict.

Sure. You could abstain. Then you for sure will get what you absolutely don't want.

Again, you've got 2 choices and one is clearly, by a long amount, more likely to produce the results I want. The other is 1000% likely to produce the results i don't want.

So, abstain all you want. Its stupid and self defeating. If you want tceh to ruin your day twice, go for it

Better to abstain, wait six years to get the right person in office than elect Paxton and have him in office in perpetuity.

That's what the primary was for. Paxton won and now is your choice if you prefer anl candidate more oriented towards the right.

It's that or real disaster

Given the nature of party primaries its difficult to get someone out once they get in.

I mean the success rate is atrocious.

We are better of losing...and making up for it now than have the stain of Ken Paxton perpetually hanging over us.

You keep saying "we". Are you talking about the democrats? Because sure, voting in Talarico is surely better for them. There is no planet on which 6 years of Talarico in the senate representing Texas is better for the Rs.

I'll take 6 years of Talarico over 24 of Ken Paxton.

Good luck with that, comrade!

Folks aren't focused enough on the long game…we need to get the Republican Party right, and if we tolerate corruption, then we will become that.

If you would take Talafreako for six years, you are no Republican!

Voted Republican in every election since I was 18.

Won't support abject corruption.

I think there's something more to being an American than voting your party every single time regardless of outcome.

I want a strong Republican Party, and if Talafreako needs to be elected, so Paxton never runs again…so be it.

What did Paxton do that was more corrupt than anything that Biden, Obama, Clinton, Clinton, or Pelosi did?

Last I checked, Jesus Christ wasn't on the ballot.

The house in this is like a grand jury in theses proceedings. They voted that there was enough smoke that there should be a trial.

At the trial, where evidence is usually presented, there was no evidence.

What evidence can you point to from the trial that proves he was guilty?

Talarico targeted the oil and gas industry in Texas, 'to save the planet' of course:
Quote:

He also reported an in-kind political contribution from his parents for "moving expenses" of $1,437.84 in 2021, when he was 32 years old.

Then something else dropped that may hurt even more, especially in Texas.
Quote:

Talarico participated in a June 2024 organizing call celebrating the expansion of Third Act, a climate advocacy and protest group for individuals over 60, into the Lone Star State. At the time, the organization was ramping up efforts to isolate the fossil-fuel industry by pressuring major banks to cut financial ties with the sector and targeting the buildout of liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals on the Texas Gulf Coast.

"This is the frontline in the fight to save democracy and save our planet, and so your arrival couldn't come at a better time," Talarico, who was serving in his third term as a state representative, told the group in pre-recorded remarks. "I look forward to working alongside all of you in this important work, and I just want to thank you for coming to Texas."

What an idiot.

His own deputies went to the Biden FBI with evidence so strong that the FBI did…nothing? An FBI that would have dearly loved to have put Paxton through the wringer couldn't even find enough to try to get him charged with anything by the Merrick Garland run DOJ? Sounds really serious!

Maybe this will help you understand where most of us on the right are at this moment in history.

I don't care. Not even a Barrack Obama smidge. I don't care if it's true, untrue, or somewhere in the middle.

Paxton is not my choice. I didn't want him on the ticket. I didn't even bother voting in the primary because our ticket sucked. But I will gleefully vote Paxton in Nov.

Because.......................your side supports and elects communists, Islamists, LGBTwhatever radicals, degenerates, simps (Talarico), foreign invaders, and complete buffoons unfit to manage a convenience store, even for president (see Biden, then Harris, and whoever you run in 2028). You're even running a Nazi lol.

Your side orchestrated what I believe is the worst crime ever committed by Americans against America, the thrown open wide borders during the Obama and Biden years. You knowingly and willingly flooded our country with the third world scum of the earth for no other reason than to dilute out the white vote and wreck the country.

In short, your side hates my country. So I don't care. I vote against you, not for Paxton.

So, in other words, it's the seriousness of the accusation. Whether or not the accusation was proven is irrelevant?
