If that's the case, we're more braindead and emotionally fragile as a nation than I thought.

Most people don't think long term. They are thinking about their RIGHT NOW. What is bugging/bothering them right now is the cost of living and high gas prices. The scare tactic of using MARXIST and COMMUNIST doesn't work with them because they are hurting NOW.

This is why I keep asking y'all if you are talking to any of the candidates. Paxton is not wrong when he says that POTUS is hurting all of them and bringing them down. Can Paxton really help with the cost of living? Can he help with gas prices? All folks see is that Republicans who are in power, and those of us that are in Texas have been living under Republican power for 20+ years, are only giving us more of the same. For those of us with nest eggs and luxuries and a ton of money in the stock market, life is freaking awesome. But we are the exception. The average person is hurting.

I think some of us need to remember that.

Are we really hurting in Texas though?

The United States Hispanic Business Council did a member survey and the top 3 concerns were:

- Affordability/ cost of energy
- Immigration
- Health care

The main attacks on Talarico seem to be based on woke politics, not the above.

Except all of the policies the heretical freak supports will negatively impact those top 3 concerns.
Agreed. So why not attack him on those?

Because current politicians made "woke-ism" more important than policies.

I would like to see an add that says:

We're hurting on gas prices.

Talarico's support for DEMOCRAT POLICIES WOULD MAKE IT WORSE.

And go on from there......

Continue with the gaslighting for the leftist propagandists at ABC, CBS, NBC, print media and most cable news networks about the mirage of affordability, immigration and healthcare problems. All three problems are a direct result of the leftist's actions.

Are we really hurting in Texas though?

Am I personally? No. Neither is my husband nor my kids. Thank you, Jesus.

But I believe we are exceptions. We are currently in rural west Texas this week. We had several folks who we had not seen in a while show up at our community lunch that we host every month at our church. They showed up in less cars to "save money on gas." These aren't startbucks/latte coffee drinkers. These are folks who are working at the data center on the other side of town. We had a whole family show up that we had never seen before and they asked if it was ok to take leftovers home. I hadn't seen that.

These folks weren't minorities either.

In our little town here, we are an hour away from the closest HEB. Here, we have a grocery store where nothing is cheap. I sent my husband to buy me coffee creamer day before yesterday. He came back and said, "do you spend this much on creamer back in Bryan? Because we need to have a conversation about this if we do." It was a full $2 more here than it is BCS. Oatmilk here is about $8 for a half gallon. And don't even think about having fresh fruit and veggies. Unless you shop for them on Monday, you will get fruit that is about to expire. And gas here in town was 4.19 the last I checked.

LOL. Small town America has been paying high prices for years.

Free food at the community lunch is free food. LOL.

That's a pretty ridiculous statement. Playing clips of that idiot and his 6 gender crap resonates with republican voters. The dude Is a fraud in every way and the voters know it. If we turnout, it will be a comfortable win for Paxton.

I don't think it really does anymore. This will be decided on gas prices and affordability by independent voters.

hope you are right and I am wrong
this is why the messages about Talarico need to pivot to his stances on economics - destroy O&G and tax tax tax at every opportunity. As much as folks are hurting from current economy, nothing he stands for has ever improved the economy

Mixing in more of that would be nice.

But I can see why the Paxton campaign is hammering away at the woke issues though...because they're more likely to emotionally motivate Republican voters to show up. Paxton doesn't have to create a bunch of new Republican voters in Texas on economics...he just needs current Republican voters to show up on election day.

Also keep in mind that Abbott has been hammering away at Hinojosa over destroying O&G and increasing taxes. Voters are already seeing the Democrat economic platform in ads.

Not shocked in the least the Texas Tribune is quick to jump on the debate contraction while they've ignored the contradiction of Talarico running against taking money from billionaires as he's spent time in California courting money from them.

About what I'd expect.

Talarico needs a massive turnout from his base to have a shot and he's absent at the worst possible time.

Of course. You scare the average Republican Voter and scoot it all under the idea of "Woke". Then you condition them to be scared of that word, regardless of whatever idea is actually being discussed, and you don't have to explain anything at all. They can live their little politician lives lying, denouncing, inciting fear, being corrupt, without having to do any real actual work. They just have to teach their followers what (and who) to fear. It keeps us busy arguing with each other about things we have little to no control over.

I'm so old, I remember when Paxton was criticized for being lazy about campaigning. They aren't even planning for a return, just letting staffers post on social media now/finally and giving him the full peepaw treatment.

As we know he's immuno-compromised as a T1D (I didn't know that until this am, not mocking the disease/status), I hope he is getting great care for any venereal disease he has contracted. He was undoubtedly propositioned many times at all those coastal fundraisers.

For those wondering why Paxton isn't hitting hard on affordability, immigration, energy is that he is banking on the Texas mid-term voter to be educated enough that dims record in those areas is abysmal. The freak is already on record about being against oil/gas drilling/exploration which would cripple Texas' economy.

The squeeze at the pump is due to Biden emptying the Strategic Reserve and making us more dependent on ME oil that was being thinned through the Hormuz. Gas is down $0.40+ this week alone and should continue to drop. Houses are more affordable with immigration shut off and will continue to drop if we don't "put out the welcome mat" again like the little freak wants us too.

I still believe with black men refusing to vote for that little feminine freak Paxton will pull out a 2-3 point win and force dims/MSM to again question why they continually get Texas polling wrong and it stays red despite their claims it's actually purple

They don't have to explain it, because extremists like Talarico make it easy with the crazy positions they've taken and backed up with their words. All Paxton has to do is play the clips and say it's too extreme for Texas. It doesn't require lying or inciting fear...it's simply replaying the words of fringe candidates for the voters to hear.

Now the Democrats lying and inciting fear over false claims about Trump...that's another story.

Exactly.

At this point it isn't about creating more Republican voters. Texas already has more than enough of them. It's a matter of giving them motivation to get out and vote - even if they're unhappy with the economy and don't like Paxton personally. The vast majority aren't going to switch their vote to the Dems, they'll just sit it out. So he is hammering away at Talarico being too extreme for Texas.

This is spot on. Go talk to middle class blue collar workers. They are really suffering with inflation and gas prices. They also know a lot of this isn't just a Republican driven problem and regardless they will tell you they will co time to suffer if that means keeping someone Like Talarico and what he professes to believe in out of office, even if they aren't fans of Paxton.

Except it's not a boogeyman, it's Talarico stating his exact views. Why do you think his campaign has worked overtime lying to voters about those video clips being deep fakes created by the Paxton campaign? They don't play well with centrist/right Texas voters.

Paxton has his baggage, but the Dems have made his job easier by nominating a candidate whose real views aren't an exaggeration...he actually believes those things and has said so multiple times.

So rightfully so, Paxton is hammering away at Talarico's crazy views.
