I have personally seen some people duped by this guy in the beginning. These are more of the independent types who lean R. it will be interesting to see what happens now that he is getting outed.
There is a thing called Pathological Certainty.
It's when you believe something, which turns out to be false, but then block out new facts that counter your original belief. That condition is plaguing our country.
Social media is a culprit in this, because it is myopic in it's delivery...and the algorithm just keeps feeding you want you were originally interested in.
Covid was a good example of that. We now know that those in charge had the same concerns we did, and were lying to us the entire time. But many still believe they did the right thing with the Vaccines, distancing, masks, etc....
When these people spend their time and effort defending an absolute moron like Talarico, they don't want to admit they were wrong, and just keep digging in deeper.
We didnt used to be this way. It wasn't long ago, someone like Howard Dean sunk his entire campaign after a bad display at a single rally. Now people choose a side and stick to it like their lives depend upon it, regardless of the facts.
