I think all the hydrogen peroxide they dumped into the pool is much more likely to have damaged the liner than any other reason I have seen.

Also, anybody have any news reports about people being arrested? I know an Olympic Cyclist was held for picking up a loose piece of liner, but he was released without charges. Anybody have anything on actual charges being filed and people being arraigned?

Not a chance. Hydrogen peroxide breaks down quickly into hydrogen and oxygen when it attacks the algae. The more likely cause is a problem with the installation process. The top coat is separating from the primer.

When hydrogen peroxide breaks down (which it does, quickly), it results in free radicals. If you don't know what free radicals are, forget it, it's science.

If you do know what free radicals are, then you know oxygen free radicals quickly break down organic polymers, like the liner is made from (as well as the primer or whatever). My point is that this makes more sense than anything else I've seen posted as the liner was not seen to be cracking and separating until after they dosed it with 30% H2O2.

Agreed, they were pouring high test peroxide, not the stuff you use on cuts/scrapes in to very concentrated areas around the edge of a shallow pool with no circulation. Doing that on a liner that appears to have had very quick/minimal prep before application and minimal cure time cannot have helped the situation.

I think what all the trump defenders don't get is that this is yet another unforced error. Talk a big game+contract to a shady buddy+double down when it goes poorly=real life SNL skit.

Cliff notes - The reflection pool is not a sterile environment like a chlorinated swimming pool. To maintain relatively clear water, you have to work with natural processes to maintain an equilibrium that does not support algae growth. You are not going to achieve that overnight after filling it back up with water.
