You think Pete is a drunk because you've been manipulated to believe so. He hasn't had a drink since he started the job.
Hegseth admitted to his drinking problem. As to the question of whether he has still been drinking, he might be. We don't know. His behavior as SecDef at times has been rude, erratic, bizarre, impulsive, delusionally grandiose, irrational, paranoid, and unstable. That might not be from drinking, though. It might just be who he naturally is.
Fair enough but those would also be identical terms to describe Winston Churchill and George Patton.
And no, I'm not putting Hegseth on a platform with those historically consequential figures, I'm just merely pointing out the fact that men can accomplish wildly significant feats of leadership all the while being described as crazy people by those whose views or motivations aren't 100% aligned at all times.
ETA: Regardless of one's alignment, they're flags that indicate a person carries high variance and can be capable of great accomplishment and great damage Whether the upside materializes depends on whether the person actually has the compensating gifts, and you usually can only tell in retrospect. He could very well be a disaster with Churchill's flaws and none of his gifts. The track record is the judge, not the personality.
