Not the same Phelan

Too bad, "drink like a sailor" would have fit so well.

I can never not say "hung-cow" from here on out.

Or his new nickname: "bull"

I'd also read that Phelan was wanting to outsource some of the shipbuilding to foreign entities. That's just monumentally dumb.

I think before you can assess if it is "dumb" or not, you need to know the background information. For instance:

1. what is the timetable set forth by his boss to build new Naval vessels?
2. What is the current US available shipbuilding capacity to meet that timetable?

I'm guessing the answer to 1 - is build them now, and the answer to 2. is the USA has next to no shipbuilding available capacity. If those answers are correct, then how do the ships get built?

dem's pravda media arm has the low IQ useful idiots repeating the programming they have been brainwashed with about hegseth. some allegation about him being too drunk at some banquet for some nonprofit for which he was on the board years ago has been spun out of control and because he works for trump, the low IQ useful idiots only know what they've been told: that he is to this day a raging alcoholic that is rude, erratic, bizarre, impulsive, delusionally grandiose, irrational, paranoid, and unstable despite no real evidence to support any of those things.

yeah; i think Northrop Grumman has had a near monopoly on those contracts from our DOD. Maybe their design and engineering are great, but if their yards are already at capacity and will be for some time, if they suck at actual steel work or other construction aspects, if they're notorious for major cost overruns and delays, and highly inefficient at achieving milestones in the construction process, then it's not unreasonable to look at alternatives for pieces of these massive projects.

was reading an article that said the US has 8 active shipyards for new builds. We built 5 total ships in 2022 (China built 1794 and Korea built 734).

Seems like we're going to have to actively invest (most probably your and my tax dollars) into our ship building capability (at the very least to cover Naval needs). I think the administration just rolled out some sort of plan, but no idea if it's an actual plan or a dream.

Trump signed off on building the icebreakers in Finland...

Given our anemic shipbuilding capacity in the US...it isnt that crazy of an idea.

However, that's not why Phelan was fired.

agreed - he was fired because of chain of command issues.

I have a buddy in the administration who was actually with Phelan on Saturday at the Nacal Academy. He mentioned he did not have a good relationship with Hegs.

You think Pete is a drunk because you've been manipulated to believe so. He hasn't had a drink since he started the job.

Hegseth admitted to his drinking problem. As to the question of whether he has still been drinking, he might be. We don't know. His behavior as SecDef at times has been rude, erratic, bizarre, impulsive, delusionally grandiose, irrational, paranoid, and unstable. That might not be from drinking, though. It might just be who he naturally is.

Instead of posting this drivel, give us some examples.

Well I'll say this for Hegseth, his war department captured Madero in an evening without loss of American lives and he secured Venezuela for the good guys and he wiped out Iran's Navy and AirForce and blew up Iran's enriched uranium and most of their missile launchers in less than a month. So it looks to me like Hegseth is going a damn good job!!

Could be like the Phelan X post above outlining his first year. Hegseth may be the right guy at the right time to upset the apple cart which he has done and which we sorely needed.

Too much Obama and Biden thumb on the scale social engineering b.s. in our military that needed to be purged by someone who is a bit of an *******.

I'm good with it. And recruitment numbers reflect that these changes were needed.

That's really not shocking. Obama/Biden had 12 combined years to fill the ranks with ideologs that care more about recruiting women and alphabet soup soldiers then they do about forming a competent and lethal military.

Hegseth was brought in specifically to piss those kinds of people off.

oh no! but then the mobs on reddit, bluskie, various discord servers, etc. might get programmed to think he's rude, erratic, bizarre, impulsive, irrational, and unstable! what then?

Driscoll, Wiles, Rubio, & Vance…but yall are just gonna say that the reports are coming from MSM and won't believe them.

So…here we are until Hegseth departs.

I'm old enough to remember all the way back to March and April 2026, where Hegseth praised Vance for his leadership, where Vance strongly defended Hegseth, where a senior WH official stated that Hegseth and Rubio have a great working relationship, and where the WH specifically called out MSM reports about a Hegseth- Rubio feud as a hackjob.

But yes, the MSM did have someone anonymously say that Hegseth and Rubio are at odds on Iran strategy and of course spin it into a big feud of chaos in the administration.

It's Rubio & Vance vs Hegseth on Iran.

Also…Hegseth is trying to fire Driscoll who happens to be Vance's Yale Law classmate…so there's that thread too.

But c'est la vis…we're here until he departs.

So Phelan was another Epsteiner. Only the best. Hell isn't a bad enough place for these people.

Sucks to not be liked enough to be redacted! Probably bc they couldnt get him on camera banging minors as leverage.

"The manifest lists Phelan alongside 12 other passengers including Epstein and apparently Jean-Luc Brunel, a French modeling agent and close associate of Epstein who was facing charges of sexual assault and rape of a minor when he was found dead in his prison cell in 2022.
Six names on the list are redacted. The flight left London traveling to New York on the afternoon of March 3, 2006."
