If you want to send the US economy into stagflation (assuming we aren't already there), that is exactly how you do it.

Well, right now, the only ships coming out of that area are ones that are providing money to Iran. Most shipping is completely stopped because of Iran blocking the SoH.

All we would be doing is preventing any shipping that was beneficial to Iran. Iran is already shutting down the rest of it.

And somehow I don't think Iran is just going to stop blocking the SoH out of the goodness of their hearts.

So, what do YOU propose we do?

Quote:

Underneath the glaciers polar bears patrol along Alaska's North Slope, the decayed bodies of their ancestors who trod there eons ago have left trillions of cubic feet of natural gas, an energy bonanza for the modern world.
That jackpot reservoir has left present-day Alaskans puzzling over how to divide the booty: How much do we need to keep for ourselves, and how much can we export?

The answers lie hundreds or even thousands of miles away, among lawmakers in Juneau, in oil and gas company executive suites in New York and Texas, and in capitals of potential buyers spread across the Asian rim. The solutions are being sought while warfare has erupted against Iran, which makes Alaska's supply even more attractive, and the pockets of natural gas that state residents currently draw on are dwindling.

Quote:

Dunleavy's pitch, which he has been making for more than a year, is for the construction of a natural gas pipeline that would run nearly 800 miles, from the frozen edge of Prudhoe Bay to new processing and shipping facilities on the Kenai Peninsula. At a time when energy demand is growing and energy markets are roiled by instability on several fronts, the pipeline, whose notable backers include President Trump, would seem to come at an ideal moment. Instead, it faces multiple hurdles that illustrate how complex it has become to pull gas from the ground, and how expensive it will be to get it out of such a remote spot and across such a formidable landscape.
"Alaska does need it," state senator Robert Myers told RealClearInvestigations. "It's not a done deal yet, but we are definitely seeing some progress."

LINK

Fun fact: My Dad worked on designing the Alaskan Pipeline and the preliminary work for a TransCanadian pipeline to get the Alaskan oil down to the continental states. And that was in the late 60s. He was traveling to Vancouver and then all the way up to the Arctic Circle quite often back then.

Seems like a whole lot of work and taxpayer money to fix a problem that he created himself. Incredible dealmaking.

He created this problem? Are you saying this because he attacked Iran? Would really like to understand your position.

My position is the problem already existed. Forget Israel for a moment. Over the last 5 decades Iran has been responsible for thousands of American deaths. Kill a few here…kill a few there. It added up.
Was Iran on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons? They, themselves, said they could build 11 soon, but for arguments sake let's say, "no". Ask yourself this…Was that their goal? Consider the continued enrichment, their insistence they have a right to do so, and the deep underground bunkers to protect their nuclear work and ballistic missiles. What does that tell you? For me, it says it was only a matter of time. I consider that a problem not of Trumps making. What say you?

Very good analysis. The one should that greatly concern all of us were the missile stockpiles -- enough to protect whatever nuclear program was in progress.

According to a white house press statement in July 2025 Iran's nuclear capabilities were "completely obliterated."

Unless you are saying the white house was previously lying then your entire thesis behind attacking Iran is nonexistent.

I said, "For arguments sake, let's say "no". But, alas, Iran said enough survived to put them on the threshold of having 11 nukes.

My thesis, which you mischaracterized, was that it was only a matter of time for them to acquire nukes based on their insistence to continue their enrichment program.
Correct me, if I'm wrong, but it seems you are saying the July 2025 bombing ended their nuke quest forever. Is that what you believe?

I was told their nuke quest was obliterated. Since then, no evidence has been provided they are close to getting a nuke. Nothing at all. It would have been prudent for the government to share this information with the public.

This is all on top of Trumps cornerstone campaign promise to not start new wars. Not only is he a liar, but he is a gullible idiot. The only US president to be dumb enough to fall for Benny's decades long spiel about Iran nearly having a nuke.

This can all be summed up pretty easily.

Had Trump campaigned on doing exactly what he has done with Iran and saying we need more people representing us like Lindsey Graham he would most likely would not be president.

Even at the start of this current war he told a reporter that irans nuclear capabilities has been obliterated. I think he's just a liar and only the most gullible of his base actually believes anything he says.

Europe was getting all its LNG from Qatar, unfortunately for Europe, Iran blew up the Qatar plant and Europe will need a new supplier. That supply will mostly come from the Houston Ship channel with a long term contract.

Remember that pipeline Nostrum that got blew up early during the Iranian Ukraine war? That was another lifeline for Europe but it's still out of service.

WTI replacing Middle East oil shipped at 100/barrel mostly coming out of Texas ports. Heavy crudes from Venezuela refined in the good ol USA.

Trump is indeed way ahead of everyone on the world stage.

He will control all oil movement out of SOH, Venezuela oil, and as a possible bonus, if Alberta succeeds from Canada and brings 80% of their crude oil as the 51st state.

The final caveat, I think he ends up with Greenland before his term is over, the only deal he accepts from NATO as they are at the mercy of Russia and China Nukes.

Incredible delusion. All this for oil, which was already very affordable for the world before this master plan was put into action?

LOL! Who told you their "nuke quest" was obliterated? It didn't come from the WH. WH said their facility was obliterated….not their "quest". A quest is a pursuit. Only the Iranian regime controls that. I don't know where you get your news, but after the facility was obliterated the Iranians said they had enough enriched to produce 11 nukes. It was, also, reported they were trying to dig up the "obliteration". On top of that, they have defiantly said they will still seek to restore their enrichment program. Seems you have a bad news source or you are playing with words here. This is a serious situation. Don't play with words.

On your second point, this isn't a new war. The Iranian regime has been at war with the US for 47 years resulting in the death of thousands of Americans. Are you good with that? I know past administrations didn't "man up" to stop them. You were good with this status quo?

Incredible delusion. All this for oil, which was already very affordable for the world before this master plan was put into action?

Its a bout real estate and control of the world oil supply which brings absolute power. If you were to replace USA with anyone else holding all the hydrocarbon cards, we would be very very concerned.

It will come to light once everything falls in place but let's take a closer look at what is happening.

Venezuela was the first move, and that was huge, all its oil is controlled by the USA (Trump). His plan, his win. We are one of the few countries that has mucho refinery capacity for that heavy stuff. I am very familiar with their crude as I have worked with PDVSA for years. They have the largest proven reserves known to modern man.

We get next to nothing from the SOH yet Trump is going to control all shipping movement thru the straight! We all know how that little passage controls world prices. China has got to be concerned but nothing they can do about it but whine. This is just a move out of reality but here we are.

Alberta votes in Oct on its future and that is going to be a real hot potato for Canada. Vast oil reserves, about 80% of all Canada oil wealth and there is a good chance Trump that movement springs forth a new territory or state of the USA. Nothing Canada can do about it.

Greenland Is the bounty for NATO not backing Trump in my opinion and most on military experts agree, Greenland is needed for our USA security.

Trump and his team are 4 moves ahead of everyone on the world stage.

I won't say all of this was calculated but everything happening right now is a mix of calculation, fortuitous outcome, and/or taking advantage of a situation put in front of us. Many strategic minded folks who follow such matters agree on this assessment.

The one item on here that I don't think will actually happen is Alberta leaving Canada. I think that's mostly wishful thinking.

Let's be fair, exactly what did I write that wasn't true?
Does the USA control Crude oil movements out of Venezuela? YES
is Trump taking over the ship movements per the SOH? YES
Did Alberta Canada just get the necessary 177,000 votes to move forward with separating from Canada? YES
is Trump actively trying to make a deal for Greenland and has he stated that NATO failed with their nonsupport of the Iranian war? YES

those are the points I made and I believe they are all connected, not by chance, YOU ON THE HAND, fail to see the obvious.

we should rename the channel between Crystal Beach and Galveston Island to the "Strait of San Jacinto" as Houston Port it is about to become the busiest in the world thanks to Donald John Trump.

Edit for spelling

Trump and his team are 4 moves ahead of everyone on the world stage.

once again, this is incorrect. the strait is vital to us as well, not only just from a global price impact and inflation perspective.

Once again, I am correct.
last year, we were worried that import tariff's were going to cause inflation and unemployment and now we know that is not the case.
Trump is playing world poker and the chips are barrels of oil, he controls the table.
His good friend Elon controls the skies.

The money generated may solve our financial crisis, heaven knows nothing else was working.

This makes sense to me. Saudis have usually been much more pragmatic and reasonable in their cost benefit analyses. They can see a win-win situation for themselves despite some aspects not being very palatable.

"Benny's decades long spiel about Iran nearly having a nuke". - uh, the Iranian regime stated recently they have enough for 11 nukes.

But I was told they are all liars and can't be trusted at all. Or are we just selectively choosing what to believe?

Please... we all know it didn't matter what Trump's positions were on those, and he endorsed Lindsey Graham before the election... people projected their own positions onto Trump despite the evidence and were just pissed that the left was trying to take Trump out. That is why he is president. If you really thought he was "anti all war" and was actually isolationist, then you weren't paying attention then and don't have a leg to stand on.

It's a great outcome all things considering, if it plays out that way. The more you get Israel and KSA tied together the less friction we should see in the ME as a result. MBS is all about developing KSA so it's a good thing for the region.

And why would he be campaigning that we need more Grahams in senate?

Has the Hormuz closure's impact on agriculture been discussed? I wasn't aware so much of the world's precursors for fertilizer go through the Strait.

"For agriculture, fertilizer starvation sets the stage for human hunger." Maybe our resident ranchers/farmers can weigh in.
