Did nobody read the link? It's talking about a 'smart wall'. Which means a mix of roads, surveillance technology, floating obstacles, bollards, etc.

Until they release the actual plan, there is nothing to get riled up about. All they did is redesignate Big Bend from a technology only zone to a 'smart wall' zone.

Correct, and the "smart wall" literally incorporates their bollard wall, that looks like this.

It can incorporate a bollard wall like that. It can also be roads or technology.

Some people haven't read the article and are making assumptions.
auote from the article
  • On its website, CBP describes the Smart Wall as "comprised of a steel bollard wall or waterborne barrier, along with roads, detection technology, cameras and lighting and in some cases a secondary wall creating an enforcement zone."
Again thanks for the clarification.

Bingo, use every means available. Aerial, fence, seismic, friken sharks with Lazer beams...80% of histories successful invasions/infiltration started with some genius saying "oh, they can't get thru there....they won't go there".....
“It was miraculous. It was almost no trick at all, he saw, to turn vice into virtue and slander into truth, impotence into abstinence, arrogance into humility, plunder into philanthropy, thievery into honor, blasphemy into wisdom, brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice. Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all. It merely required no character.”

They've updated the map to include the entire river from El Paso to the gulf. Insane to cede millions of acres to the other side of a fence. Its going to cut off access to national and state parks, recreation parks, steal private property, and cut off Texans and wildlife from the Rio Grande.

Explain how putting a wall here would be useful. Juan isn't jumping across that river.

Feel free to side with Mother Jones and AOC on the issue based on a headline.

I'll stick with the Trump admin until further notice.

Literally the definition of idolatry. Some have lost all sense of reality and thinking for themselves.

I think building a border wall in Big Bend is a horrible idea because it is one of the hardest border-crossing environments for several reasons. It features a remote and rugged desert and mountains. Also, there is extreme heat and long distances between water sources. In addition, rescue access is very limited. Fewer migrants attempt this route than Arizona's Sonoran Desert (Tucson Sector) and California's Imperial County (El Centro Sector). President Trump and DHS should prioritize building a wall in areas with lower physical barriers, flatter terrain, and high-volume legal ports of entry nearby.

It's an interesting idea, at the very least

The map was updated today to show a technology wall, not a physical wall, from the west side of Big Bend State Park all the way to Del Rio.
Same day Noem was fired.

Which is really what it was going to be the whole time.

The hypesters even got to my brother who is not a social media guy but he was tripping.

BTW - do you have an updated map showing the technology so I can send it to my brother and his 6G Bronco krewe?

Waste of money, can be done more efficiently with drones 24/7.

I hope they leave a permanent drone over St Elena Canyon to ruin people's selfies.

From that site, here's the definition of a Smart Wall:
Quote:

Today, the U.S. Border Patrol is constructing a "Smart Wall", comprised of a steel bollard wall or waterborne barrier, along with roads, detection technology, cameras and lighting and in some cases a secondary wall creating an enforcement zone.

So there will be some kind of barrier in Big Bend. Stupid.

Can you provide the link? The one above says a smart wall is a combination of technologies.

First, let me say that I absolutely love the Big Bend area - BBNP and BBSP. We've been going there yearly since I was a kid. It's hard to explain the draw, but the rural simplicity and the natural beauty is phenomenal. I can see why news of the border wall would cause an immediate outrage amongst people near and far from the area.

Obviously, the Santa Elena Canyon and similar other canyons along the river don't need any additional protection. However, much of the river is shallow and easy to walk across. Currently, those locations aren't heavily trafficked areas from the South, so there's not any illegal traffic crossing in those areas.

It will be interesting to see how the new border wall east and west of Big Bend diverts the cartel. The cartel will continue to find the weakest link in the system. The weakest link that we've experienced in my lifetime had nothing to do with physical barriers, it was purposeful political will by the corrupt democrats.

For now, the border wall isn't heading to the region - and that's good (for now).

I agree.

A physical wall is the epitome of stupidity.
