Will the Colbert-Talarico folks admit to being played?

It is as plain as day.

Talarico needed a bump. What drives attention better than controversy? So he partnered with Colbert to generate fake controversy. No one gives a crap about Colbert. His ratings are in the tank, and he is on his way out. If he had aired the interview on the show no one would have seen it.

So instead they gin up some controversy by butting up against the equal time doctrine and convincing people that CBS's lawyers told them they couldn't air it. And oh by the way, Donald Trump says so. BUT IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE INTERVIEW THAT IS SO CONTROVERSIAL IT'S ON YOUTUBE. HERE'S THE LINK.

And the you have all your social media influencers and 'bots chime in on social media platforms telling everyone what a great interview it was.

I wonder how many conservatives got suckered into watching it too.

It's brilliant. I wish I had thought of it.

My two cents on the supposed controversy and the FCC equal time rules.

The equal time rules were created when were only three networks, a handful of TV stations in each town, and no cable or internet. With limited channels of communication, such rules were necessary.

Now there are multiple avenues of mass communication, and people are seeking political content like this interview regardless of their political stripe. Broadcast TV must now compete with cable and streaming, and restrictive rules on content will only hasten its demise. Hell, it's already dead.

Talarico is going to confuse a lot of Christians..."love thy neighbor, etc...but he has no boundary on the other side. People are going to think he is a very center Christian - he is not. He mentions abortion is overblown by the right, but never hints he has even the most basic Christian belief for standing up for the unborn. I believe he is in favor of the right to choose. He says a lot of things that some Christians will agree with like "we should not shove our beliefs down others' throats"...but he appears vague on any topic that a democrat would disagree with him on.

The equal time thing is an FCC tool for communication over the airwaves. On the internet which is not over the air, the FCC has no jurisdiction. As I stated earlier, no one would have watched this on Colbert because his ratings are so poor. If they had just pushed it out on YouTube, only the Talarico fanboys would have watched it. But if you scream OMG WE'RE BEING CENSORED BY TRUMP, GO SEE OUR INTERVIEW ON YOUTUBE THAT HE DOESN'T WANT YOU TO SEE then people flock to it and think you're worthy of a donation

5 million views on YouTube is a lot more that 2 million on late night TV, but without a controversy to send people to YouTube, no one would have known otherwise.

Paxton does have a very strong record as Texas AG of fighting against bureaucracy and oversteps by the Feds. He has a long proven track record of fighting the Obama and Biden admins from everything from O&G leases, climate alarmist BS regs, border wall and security, election integrity, baby killing, covid tyranny, etc. He's been a marxist revolution's worst enemy. As for the communist lies about him that low IQ ritaards have all lapped up: he was acquitted for them. Even after acquittal, Biden's feds kept digging and still had nothing. He's divorced now. ooooh. better vote for Low T now? I don't think so.

Low T ran away from his job and left the state because he didn't want to vote on bills - aka his job. He pretends to be a man of the cloth while he lectures on how god wants you to decide to crush fetus skulls. He's never done anything except change his stances for one liners to trick the low IQ useful idiots because he's now running for US senate. He's a beta. He's beto 2.0.

Nope. I think Texas still has a strong conservative base and a right-leaning middle.

This guy's "faith" message makes us all the dumber. I feel for those that buy into it.

This is all true.

But the equal time rules only apply if you are using up radio waves. They don't apply to cable.

Given the current technology, the rules are a bit arcane. But, you don't see them pop up very often.
