FFS a C130 got stuck in the sand behind enemy lines and Delta had to come in and blow it…FFS. Delta would have been on it and why send a ground team to sanitize a site when you can send TLAMs and JDAMs.

Makes nonsense whatsoever. Jack Murphy whoever he is must be drinking heavily.

FFS looks like he knew what he was talking about

It was the wording he used making it sound like a separate Delta element came to the site just to sanitize it.

If they extracted on fix wing I bet they used the road nearby having removed any clearance obstructions while on the ground.

While everyone was distracted with the search and rescue operation, some other big events unfolded inside Iran and the region. US and Israelis coordinated a massive strike on an IRGC bunker. Believed to have killed dozens of officials.

The Iranians have struck desalination plants in Kuwait and oil infrastructure. This is very bad. They also hit the headquarters of an oil company in Bahrain.

Bridge and electric facility day is coming up in 12 hours.

payback for what the Islamic Regime just did to our allies.

It will be interesting to see what today brings. I doubt the Iranians have any reverence for the most significant Christian holiday, but if they do attack Israel or US targets today, I hope we respond with the full strength and power of the Resurrection.

considering the Islamist terrorists have launched major wars against Israel on Yom Kippur and Simchat Torah-

they really don't care about attacking on Easter.

Maybe some of you guys can answer me this. After seeing a map of the strait, and knowing Iran's intransigence, why has not the UAE, who has more money than God , opened a canal, making a much more straight voyage, and avoiding the strait and Iran's BS completely? Could make a fortune. Cities in the way? Oilfields?

On the east side of the UAE peninsula, not a deep enough port for supertankers. They would have to dredge and keep dredging a lot. There is a port and UAE has a pipeline (think it is complete by now) there but can't match the volume of oil that goes through the Strait. So it is the geography of the seabed, is my understanding.

I see. This is why I asked. I know nothing of the seabed geography there and understand why that would be a limiting factor.

but you are thinking correctly and strategically

similar to how Ulysses S. Grant constructed a canal around Vicksburg to move along the Mississippi

for YEARS the israelis have been begging the Arabs and the world to construct PIPELINES that would go from Bahrain across Saudi to Jordan and be offloaded at Haifa port

maybe now they see the wisdom in the plan

The greatest thing about the rescue of our Colonel-

aside from him being back with his family in England is this:

strategically- it means USAF and special forces have now landed cargo planes INSIDE Iran

particularly outside Isfahan

thus, if we want to, we could be landing planes filled with weapons to hand out to the insurgent freedom fighters

hopefully CIA is doing this every day now.

Well, the problem is in arming people who are actually criminal gangs versus real Iranian patriots. That's going to be tough to distinguish in a situation like this.

How many remote air strips could we do this without initiating a firefight like the one with this rescue? Surely they would have some kind of eyes on every air strip they would have available. Would think the same for the highways as well

Some in France see the truth:

"The United States LITERALLY improvised a base, flew dozens of aircraft freely in Iranian airspace, deployed special forces on the ground, conducted a rescue operation in hostile territory under Iranian fire, and exfiltrated their pilot after 48 hours behind enemy lines."

Israeli Channel 12: New details have emerged about the rescue of the American F15E navigator shot down over Iran.

The officer was unconscious with a concussion and did not transmit a distress signal initially.

He made first contact at 12:00 on Friday, climbed to the highest point to avoid detection, walked 1012 kilometres and hid in a crevice, from where he sent precise coordinates on Friday night.

Israel refrained from striking in the area and provided intelligence.

During Friday and Saturday, Israel was asked to assist with air superiority and struck relevant targets.

U.S. forces seized a farm 18 kilometres from his hideout, landing two aircraft and small helicopters.

The helicopters extracted him from the crevice and returned him to the farm.

During takeoff, two C130s became stuck in sand; three smaller planes were called to evacuate the navigator and special forces.

Fighter jets then bombed the two stranded aircraft to prevent capture.

Gentlemen-

if we were able to supply the Muj against the Soviet Empire for 10 years in the 1980s

we can figure out how to support 80 million Iranians with weapons in a massive country with porous borders!

That should read "10-12" km, correct? And what is a "LAPES" mission? SIAP, but I struggle with military acronyms. TIA

Low Altitude Parachute Extraction System

LAPES is a tactical military airlift delivery method where a fixed-wing cargo aircraft deposits supplies in situations where landing is not an option, or in an area too small to accurately parachute supplies from high altitude

There were some unconfirmed reports of Iranian citizens in some cities pulling Iraqi militia members out of cars and beating the crap out of them.

These are the militia thugs Iran brought into the country in January to quell the unrest. They went back to Iraq and have now been invited back in by the regime.

I know it's pointing out the obvious by now, but on the right, in front of the engine is the front of an AH/MH 6 airframe. It's laying on the side and you can see what's left of the horizontal bubble frame.

Picture is an S-500, more of the Russian equivalentish to THAAD. Would also be pretty easy to detect the radar transmissions. Not something they would gift to Iran and not something as useful against fighter aircraft.

The reality is Iran has been trying to use their homebrew / knockoff infrared systems since the start of the war and they got a lucky shot.

THAAD is an ABM system, not an AA system...so if the S-500 is like THAAD (Theater High Altitude Air Defense), then it's pretty useless to Iran in this war, since we're not tossing many ballistic missiles at them (maybe some ATACMS)...

Were little birds really the best choice for that mission? It seems refuelable blackhawks would offer 5x the firepower with 75% of the agility with far less risk exposure overall.

I already assumed 1-2 little birds were there burned up, but assumed they might not be able to unload them if the front of C130 was buried but this bird is in front of this C130. Maybe they just elected to leave them for safer exfil, but if thats the case I would expect all 4 left behind. Maybe well get more details down the road. Wild operation once again by SOCOM.
