Won't go too far, but I support chaos for the commies. I wonder if this will impact Xi's Taiwan plans. This is just how communism goes though.

Dmitri Alperovitch? Isn't that the Crowdstrike founder?

Sidenote: Having their mobile devices taken may also have been in response to the Huawei issue during the capture of Maduro.

He co-founded Crowdstrike. Kind of an interesting cat, but I have seen this reported far and wide today suddenly.

This one guy was the leader of recent smaller/lower purges.

What do we mean by "purged"? Fired, jailed or unalived?

I mean, that level of being "under investigation" means house arrest or dead in commie land.

I think this definitely signals that Xi is upset that their Chinese air defense tech was basically worthless against American's infiltration of Venezuela.

They might make cool drone shows for Chinese New Years, but their military tech is subpar.

Why? because they stole it and have no clever thought in their heads. This makes their Taiwan ambitions look foolish and unattainable.

YouTube channels about an internal power struggle deep within the Communist Party ranks last year including some of these generals. Nothing really seemed to come of it at the time but now I guess we know.

Who knows really, but it's fun to see them form some sort of a circular firing squad at the top levels, and what that might do for morale/cohesion at lower levels.

It's all of it. Can be the guy drives mopeds now, is a bigger with missing eyes and limbs, is working hard labor, has been demoted to middle management, or killed, tortured, etc.

But it is a typical repetitive thing with Xi as it is indeed a strong signal he is feeling weak. Always good.

Her YouTube channel has been all over this internal power struggle. At times she sounded like a wackadoodle making things up but events of the last few days seem to indicate she was right about a lot of it.

Her post, unrolled:

My take on Zhang Youxia's downfall:

I personally believe that the rumors I previously reported about Xi Jinping losing power or partially losing power are real.

However, the CCP elders who initiated that soft coupHu Jintao, Wen Jiabao, and Zhang Youxia who cooperated with themstill wanted to preserve the Party, maintain the Party's face, and ensure internal stability within the Party.

They even hoped to return to the Deng Xiaoping era, which is unfeasible.

Because they didn't act in time to completely take down Xi Jinping, they missed their opportunity and were counterattacked by Xi Jinping.

Last weekend, there were rumors that Xi Jinping was seriously ill and hospitalized. In hindsight, this was a smokescreen released by Xi Jinping to confuse his opponents.

It's said that Zhang Youxia, who let his guard down, only brought four guards to the meeting and was captured by more than a hundred people ambushed there.

Some also say that Zhang Youxia did intend to take down Xi Jinping but was betrayed by an informant.

Unlike the case of another vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, He Weidong, whose downfall was officially announced only seven months later, this time the news was released just a few days after, which precisely indicates that Xi Jinping succeeded in his surprise attack and had to announce it immediately to stabilize the situation.

From a higher perspective, the destruction of the CCP is bound to happen. The anti-Xi faction within the CCP only wants to take down Xi Jinping while preserving the Communist Party, which is unfeasible.

But perhaps this new development was meant to happen. Now no one in the CCP will fantasize about "reform" anymore. They should all give up hope.

And perhaps more people will realize: There is no other way except to end the CCP.

So, 2026 will further continue to accelerate the demise of the Communist Party.

No matter how clever people are, they cannot defy heaven's will.

The Mullah's won't be flying to Beijing.

I still think not much comes of this, other than shaking up their planning/military capabilities this year.

Yeah but why is THIS on his radar? I go go back too far, I guess. Remember the Cozy Bear and Fancy Bear than falsely said Ukraine's artillery had a vulnerabilitiy during the Maidan Revolution? Then retracted it?

That was in 2014.

Wouldn't this be a way for Xi to consolidate power? Not sure if this is a bad thing for them.

I had heard several videos stating sorta the opposite - that the military was basically becoming independent from Xi's control and that Xi was losing his influence over them. I guess he regained control?

You don't disappearing your friends when things are going good. Your remaining friends will undoubtedly begin to have… mixed feelings about you.

At some point you will run out of friends. But evidently Xi friends are like the rest of things in China, plentiful and cheap.
AtticusMatlock

These were not his friends. The CCP has many factions. When Xi was picked by the party, the old guard factions thought he would be one thing and he turned into something quite different. He has been systematically working through the rival factions and their supporters and has been eliminating them.

According to revelations by former CCP official Du Wen, Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli were arrested over an attempted coup.

Du Wen said that Zhang Youxia, together with Chief of the Joint Staff Liu Zhenli, planned to mobilize troops to launch a coup against Xi Jinping under the banner of "saving the Party and saving the nation," but they were betrayed by people close to them.

At present, the old General Staff command system has been suspended and replaced by direct command from the Central Military Commission via encrypted telegrams. All units across the military have been placed on Level-1 combat readiness, with all military movements immediately frozen and halted.

All officers and soldiers have been ordered to hand in their mobile phones and undergo collective political study. The coup attempt has completely failed.

This is the most brutal and thorough purge in the history of the Chinese Communist Party and the international communist movement as a whole. It is also a direct manifestation of a structural collapse within the CCP's military. The scale and intensity of Xi Jinping's purge now far exceed those of Stalin and Mao Zedong.

At the same time, a counter-strike by Zhang Youxia's remaining faction could occur at any moment.

Du Wen also strongly advised friends in Beijing to limit going out, and in particular to avoid rashly approaching the Chang'an Avenue area. Large-scale troop mutinies could break out at any time, the CCP regime could change overnight, and Xi Jinping could be eliminated at any moment, according to

Not like this. This purge is huge, the biggest by far of Xi's time as leader. This general was a huge power broker. The power struggle inside the CCP appears to be real and appeared to be very threatening to Xi himself.

No doubt this is very interesting. Of course the thing about China is nothing is ever quite the way it seems so the real story is for good and bad. Chaos in the CCP makes me feel all fuzzy though.

Yes, it's been a paradise since 1949 or so for many.

Slightly off topic, but Xi VanFleet has a lot more at her timeline, always worth checking in on for a Chinese communism survivor's perspective on todays news cycle:

Sorry, by friends I mean leadership of the CCP. Obviously I have no idea if they play mahjong drinking $4,000 cups of tea.
