Arkansas becoming 1st state to sever ties with PBS, effective July 1.

"The commission that oversees public television in Arkansas voted Thursday to sever ties with PBS, making it the first state to end its contract with the broadcast giant that provides popular television programs such as "Sesame Street," "Nova" and "Antiques Roadshow."

The short of it -- Arkansas refused to pay $2.5M annual dues, since Trump's defunding of PBS stopped the funds the states had been using for these dues.

So, if I'm reading this right, rather than it look like the federal funding was going to PBS, it was hid by sending it to the states, and they paid it back to PBS. I'm guessing so the Feds can say, we don't pay for PBS, we only support local stations.

NGO funding from the federal government just needs to stop. Come on, Abbott.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

If you want to be a broadcast company have a profitable model to make money. No taxpayer funding should go to any broadcast corp.

Funny, but Big Bird does not belong to PBS. Children's Television Workshop owns the rights to everything Sesame Street, and they have raked in Billions
