Man, y'all are a crusty old bunch.

I've had some great female bosses, and horrible male bosses. Interestingly, the bad female bosses I had tried too hard to act like men.

You sound quite enjoyable to work with!

Because I didn't automatically assume that my female boss belonged in the kitchen?

In 40 years I never worked with a single HR business partner that understood 2% about the business we were in, yet they believed they were performing a vital function managing the company's business.

Some were able to provide good support in spite of their lack knowledge, while most could not get out of the way.
Anecdotal, but I had a social event where the new SVP of HR struck up conversation. Assumptions confirmed: about all she understands about our business is that her loyalty is to the C-suite.

What does that mean? They tried to pee while standing up?

The ones who ...try to be super hard core - respect my authority types.

This is what I meant.

Back in the day, especially, many female leaders assumed they had to be hard asses in order to prove themselves to men. They were unnecessarily harsh, especially to female employees.

Ice queens. No personality. No empathy or camaraderie.

The best women bosses I had were just themselves.

One time I got a call from the Head of HR who demanded to know why I "filed for unemployment". I had just come back from an international trip and was astounded. What unemployment, I am right here in front of you. I asked her to show me what she meant. She said she will send it. Then nothing happened, the matter ended. I never had filed for any unemployment while I was employed.

Stupid beach.

I was released earlier this year and when I went to file unemployment someone already had back in 2020 using my SS# and old house address. I would never had know had I not applied.

This may have happened to you because the company has to approve the payment of unemployment benefits.

No telling how much fraud was paid out during the Covid mess.
