It's just sort of random depending on when and where enough people are showing up. I guess this has gone on long enough that some of them have just quit though and found other jobs that are actually paying them.

For every day it's shut down, we should all be able to prorate our taxes.

Maybe they'd then get their asses back to work for us.

They'll get paid when its over.

It's obvious that any American who is being hurt by the shutdown has to be angry with the dems who have repetitively voted against reopening the government.

The masses are too stupid, they only know the talking points of "Republicans have the President and both houses of Congress, it's their fault!!!" That and Schumer and friends with the "Trump and the Republicans are coming to take MeeMaws Medicare" is all the masses see (well and exactly what MSM is pushing 24/7)

More people will just drive or make alternative plans.

I presume every one of those tsa agents who failed to show up to work are going to be fired.

Agreed. Schumer has not looked good on this one. He knows his time is up though. AOC will crush him in NY.

The current CR is only good for about 3 more weeks

Zero chance the congress will have all the appropriations bill done in 3 weeks
So even if the D's allowed the current CR to be passed As a nation we are right back at this same impasse on December 1

I think the D's get some assurance that ACA will be added back in the govt is reopened under the current CR and
Everybody starts posturing on who gets the blame for the next shutdown

Rs were winning Oct 31st.

This week, everyone is finding out how much more they are going to be paying for health care. It's pretty bad. I feel that this may turn the tide just enough to push the majority against the Rs. It sucks, but Republicans need to get ahead of the issue, and I personally don't think they are doing that.

The reason for the crazy increase in health care costs and insurance is Obamacare which is 100% a democrat thing…. You are right the R's need to get out in front of this, but it appears people like you are taking the bait and blaming the R's for the results of the Dem's failed policies and plans.

It's random. You can check it all day and DFW's remained green and under 10 minutes yesterday. Same with DAL.

Very true.

My buddy in a department that works with border patrol is already talking about what they'll do when that huge check for all the missed pay hits all at once.

Houston had TSA wait times over three hours this morning, and it was similarly bad at times over the last three days.

And there were issues at other Texas airports as well, with quite a few cancelled flights also.

I flew Sunday out of IAH on American. Precheck and Clear were quick ; 10 minutes at 8am in terminal A. Non precheck looked like a nightmare.

Media communication was horrible. They were reporting instructions for United travelers but sounded like they were speaking to All travelers.

Maybe get some exercise and eat less. Lose some weight and usually several chronic health issues diminish in the process. Dave money on food AND medical care. Our national health cost will drop like 10% collectively in 2-3 months if Americans just quit stuffing their pie holes and took a walk now and then.

Government is shutdown, but I'm still paying taxes. And since I'm not currently planning to fly anywhere, I doubt I will notice any difference. Do you think this will still be going at Christmas travel time?

I'm still confused on the 60-vote cloture/filibuster thing. Why aren't there Democratic senators on C-SPAN 24/7 filibustering to prevent a GOP funding bill from passing? If they're the ones holding things up, make them work for it.

Ha. Forgot about the timing here. But I think the current CR being held up was designed as a stopgap to only fund through Nov 21 at which point they would debate the full 2026 bill. Thus, all this fighting is over a very temporary measure designed to punt negotiations for 2026 to Nov 21 and is largely now pointless due to the timing you brought up. Zero reason to debate a stopgap measure that would apply for 17 days, if they signed it today.

And the D's already have assurances that ACA subsidies will be added back in. The R's have already capitulated on that. They just want the Dems to open the government before they give in. Dems now playing chicken because the ACA cost increases are now coming out along with hoping for a black riot in cities due to SNAP cutoff.

I still think the play is for house R's to pass decaying bills where the D pet funding gets stripped as a D filibuster languishes.

The filibuster isn't what it used to be. You don't have to have someone at the podium talking constantly in order to filibuster anymore. I wish you did, because it wouldn't be so effortless.

I am not blaming the Rs for health care costs, and certainly not blaming them for Obamacare.

That's not the point. The point is most people vote with their wallet, and the Dems are handing out a lot of money for health care where people are feeling the pain. And they are partly making this fight about continuing the hand outs. That will make it easy for some people to side with Dems that normally don't. I am not one of those people.

Rs need to get on top of the situation from both a PR perspective and from a solution perspective.

So taxpayers continuing to subsidize unaffordable healthcare? How did we get here?

And no we want to accommodate people that came here illegally?

OK.

IAH sucks. Thanks for confirming it.

BTW, WHY were they cancelled?

My flight from CRP to DFW on 10/26 was delayed 3 hrs....because of fog at DFW.

I'm quite sure that the shutdown did not cause the fog.

They can just change the date on the CR to be 7 weeks like the original CR was going to be. That is a minor change...

From what I have seen one of drivers is increased prescription including GLP-1 costs and in general unhealthy fatties that drive up cost for others.
