Great. There goes any possibility of resurrecting Spaghetti Westerns.

They don't need to be brought back. They were perfect the way they were. Don't f*** with the original. Hollywood screws it up everytime they try to do a remake.

They were perfect. I'd like more but then we would first need some men to act in them. Hollywood is mostly soy boys now.

I'd like to see more westerns in general.

Ol' Scott needs to step up and fill his daddy's shoes.

T&P for Netflix.

Half their movies are dubbed now it seems like....

And their quality wouldn't take a hit. Likely end up being an addition by subtraction situation.

For my interests, the U.S. made movies are crap compared to a lot of foreign made ones.

And that's the real point - having more movies to suit the interests of more people is better overall for the industry than having fewer movies made at all.

Not every time. Reference 1982's The Thing vs 1951's The Thing From Another World (which I loved, but the remake was far better).

Of course, I'm pointing you to a 43 year old movie. I have nothing more recent, so your point is mostly valid.

Probably would be alot safer if he said in the 21st C. You had to reach well into the Reagan era.

Just use AI and use any scene you want. Cheaper and probably much better production value.

Trump will single handedly usher in a new golden age of American film making.

Why is the federal government using tariffs to prop up a failing domestic film industry?

It's amazing how much cheaper it is to produce entertainment in Ireland. On his podcast, Rob Lowe talked about how they film his game show "The Floor" in Ireland. They fly everyone out there (including the 100 contestants each season), pay for their accommodations, etc. and it's still cheaper than filming in California.

Govt interference ALWAYS worsens things.

This, like all tariffs, is stupid.

Remove the regulations/etc. that make it more expensive to do things here. Movies, Mfg, all of it.

Movies are going to be made by AI now anyway.

An entire AI movie will have some novelty effect but nothing beyond that. People want real stars. Subsequent all-AI movies will do badly.

AI will NOT replace today's movies.
Im looking forward to the AI remake of the Third Star Wars Trilogy! The storyline should make more sense and acting improved.

They could also save money by filming movies in America instead of California.

That was clever. Post of the day!

That went right over my head! I was up too early for a flight this morning and was half-asleep in the lounge when I read this as a serious response.

For starters, you would set it in a time closer to Return of the Jedi. Of course, the primary actors are either too old or too dead to resume the well known roles. So in steps AI. Except Luke might have eight fingers, Solo would have an extra arm, and Princess Leia might end up with a third boob like that chick from Total Recall.

AI is not ready to do a feature film.

Yeah, 21st century would have been a good clarification.

The Drinker did a video on this when this was first brought up about 4 months ago….its a good listen regarding this:

Also…since it's a Drinker video should be obvious NSFW regarding language….

Californian is too expensive for any business. It's harder there than anywhere else EXCEPT for some industries that's where a concentration of top industry talent is located. It's become a chicken and egg situation there. For Silicon Valley, Venture Capital and startups, Hollywood/entertainment, and even for aerospace and mechanical engineering due to the success of SpaceX, and some of the big defense companies with offices in LA.

There are surely cheap spots to film in the US. But if you need a specific setting then overseas filming is required for truly great film making.

Also would have been good if the laugh emoji had been there as intended.

But on this, maybe especially if you say since 2009/2010. Seems woke came in more with Obama.

So you mean the days of Brad Pitt or Scarlett Johanssen making $100000000000000000 are over?

All one has to do is "buy an AI subscription" and out pops a movie?

So now everyone can become Steven Spielberg??

Have you seen some of the fan AI Star Trek specials? They are damn good and imaginative. It doesn't take much to imagine a full decade later when entirely self-created faces and figures like comic artists routinely do become the performers in full length things.

As I said, this is growing exponentially. The special effects will be insane. First they'll just get permission to use and actor's likeness. Then down the road, they'll just make their own character. Or even crazier, they'll make you the main character in the movie if you want. Or whomever you want. Young Angeline Jolie.

That movie isn't even realistic. Where are all the H1B CEOs?
